First of all looks like VDJ loose nVidia dlls everytime it disconnects (or maybe old dlls if an update is ready)
This saturday dl failed many times saying "hardware not compatible" and it took much more 1 hour to get them back because dl was never ending and was failing after more or less of the parts of both dll were dl @ insane number of seconds per bit.. restarting from scratch ... only after restart of VDJ.
This dl is bloquant as long as it didn't fail or succeed, no way to use any part of VDJ
worth the dialog box is not movable and not responding (no abort, no background buttton) and always on top ... not only VDJ becomes unusable
1) once dl once, no reason to download them again, unless it was an update in which case asking for update would be usefull
well maybe it was one, because display driver were updated, but i forced the update after download failed some tenth ... looking why VDJ was unusable.
2) while dl, no reason to block anything at all, just either use old dll (or none) and dl in bg, then open a notification after dl ended
3) if dl fails, may be fine to ... get he possibility to retry some time, use another mirror, and, try to continue dl or report
4) appling update at next start and only if update was agreed may be a good idea (if it was an update ^^)
Everything went well this time hopefully, just in time
but better not stems and work as before (most of the time stems are not really used yet) than hang for tenths of minutes until something happend
of course the secure 32bit version is still there as well as the pre-stem version for "such a case"

There has been no update to the dll's.
If they get redownloaded it means they failed to load for some reason and VirtualDJ expected the download to be corrupted.
Downloading should happen in the background, so you should be able to use VirtualDJ normally during that time, this is not the case?

No, there was a dialog, fixed in center of main display not being movablenot clickable and vdj was not usable
status bar growing really slowly until dialog closes then "no compatible hardware" box appears (or stay under main window)
as long as the "incompatible box" was not clicked VDJ was unusable
it looks like the "incompatible dialog" is bloquant and appear under "downloading dialog" and thus unreacheable
note: download speed was so slow from virtualdj, maybe one of VDJ / windows was waiting for network to answer
maybe the reason they fail to load again was nvidia having driver update pending
