Is this music that you've purchased (paid for each track individually) or are you renting it from Apple Music?
Apple Music tracks cannot be played in VDJ. They're protected files and are only playable with Apple software.
Also bear in mind that you don't need iTunes at all if you have purchased the music. VDJ has its own database. Just import the tracks to VDJ.
