I have the same issue recently. In my case, the file is not present at the location VDJ thinks. In other words: I moved the file to another folder and VDJ can't find it anymore.

I used to have a "file missing" icon when this happened, but recently I keep getting a standard (music)icon but when I want to load the track, I get the message "Unkown Filetype".

Should show File Not Found if you are using build 4675

Use the supported file types:
Audio tracks (mp3,wav, cda, wma, asf, ogg, ogm, m4a, aac, aif, aiff, flac, mpc, ape)
Video tracks (avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, vob, mov, divx, mp4, m4v, vix, mkv, flv, webm)
Karaoke files in zip (mp3+cgd) format or video files tagged as karaoke files in the Tag Editor

Im getting an unknown file type when accessing my HD. Most of my tracks are MP3 and its not reading them. Not sure why? Help please, thanks

Aloha, have similar issue that started yesterday... I can play 3 or 4 videos, when load the new video, deck shows unknown file error.. Playlist are empty, and eventually VJ will close.. I thought issue was skin, plugins, controller 1000SRT, even in stand alone mode I'm getting the same error and VJ crashes.. at one point last night I could only play 1 song at a time.. Never I've experienced this type of error, I've cleaned up drives, memory, searched for infections, am at a lost and frustrated ... Thank you

Yo! I fixed it! It was the path to the file.

The previous path was: /Users/MSAS/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml
The path I found through the Mac Finder was: /MSAS/Desktop/iTunes Media/iTunes Library.xml

Find the path and paste it into the iTunesDatabaseFile section under Browser.

1) Open Virtual DJ
2) Preferences
3) Browser
4) iTunesDatabaseFile -> *path*

Hope it works. Happy Setting PeepS!
