Topic: Map a button/key to "kill all audio"

Way back in version 4 or 5 I asked about a way to cut the audio on any selected track. The effect I was after went beyond an EQ kill, I wanted to kill the entire channel for a moment, then switch it back on. The effect I'm after is like switching the channel select from LINE to PHONO. Back then, the CUT effect was recommended. I was able to map it to my keyboard at the time, I think it was set to a momentary action - press the key, audio is muted, release and the audio comes back.

Some probably use a crossfader for that. I'm too old and lazy to re-learn that trick.

So back in the older version, all was OK. The new Cut8 fx plugin and similar don't do what I want. It seems to try and cut on or between beats, but I want full control over this.

Is there a way to do this in Version 8.x? I have my reasons for wanting this effect.

Thanks!

Thanks! I'll learn how to make that work, seems pretty straight forward kinda.

Hint - look under the 'Audio volumes' section. Penultimate entry.

There's a command there called "mute". Wow. Could that have something to do with it?

...and yes, being grateful and sarcastic simultaneously.

But seriously, this should do the job nicely! Thanks again!
