Topic: Tag Editor - Rename Files

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

In Tag Editor you can rename the mp3 file. But there are only two options "Title - Artist.mp3" or "Artist - Title.mp3".
I am missing an 3rd option "Track# Artist - Title.mp3". I always use this naming for complete albums.
01 Artist - Name of 1st Song.mp3
02 Artist - Name of 2nd Song.mp3
...

everybody has their own way of naming their tracks and it would be handy if we could build up our own way from within VDJ.

I certainly dislike having the track number as the start of the file name and in my experience, this sometimes makes VDJ pick up the Artist field as a number.. But as i said each to their own.

As a double side to this, if we could also specify how VDJ picks up the info from filenames, it could save a lot of future editing too..
(eg, you have a full album in the "01 - Artist - Title" format, we could avoid a lot of 01's and 02's in the wrong fields in the browser..)

A mp3tag-like way would be nice.

So you can just type "%track% - %artist% - %title%" and it would rename all your files to "01 - Beatles - Help".

I would agree that making it possible to put the order of choice of data on the skin should be selectable so that one could get the data up on the player that they want to have.
Saving edited material back to the actual file data would be great so that you do not have to redo it on each computer library.
