I have a new MacBook Pro, VDJ8.1(build 2588.1086) and a Sabrent USB sound card. In Preferences>Options the "Output" is set to Speaker+Headphone and the "Card" is set to Two soundcards.
Source "master" is set to Built-In Output
Source "headphones" is set to C-Media USB Headphone Set
Both set to Channel 1&2.
When I listen to a song with the PFL button off, the sound comes through the internal speakers at the volume that is set on the interface. If I click the PFL button, the song then is ALSO routed to the headphones but in full volume. The song places on the master output regardless if PFL is turned on or off.
This is true for for decks.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you so much.
Craig

I think you are confused:
With PFL off, the sound goes only on "Master" sound card with the volume specified by the deck faders on mixer and "Master Volume" knob on master panel. That's the expected behavior.
With PFL on, the channel that has the PFL button enabled goes to the headphones as well ignoring the deck faders setting (otherwise you wouldn't be able to prelisten a song without the song being heard on master as well) and respecting only the "Headphones volume" knob which can also be found on "Master" panel.
The PFL on/off button does NOT affect the sound that goes on Master. In other words when you enable PFL on a channel it does NOT mute it from going out live if you raise the deck's fader volume.
That's the typical behavior of all software, and analog mixers as well.
So what you describe is absolutely logical. You only need to understand how to use it.
PS: PFL stands for Pre-Fader Listen.
In other words it means that you hear the sound as it is exactly before the fader setting.

Hi George,
Thank you so much for the education. I think I get it now. I'm still learning how to navigate as well as learn the concepts of DJing. I appreciate you lending your expertise.
Cheers,
Craig

Goto VirtualDJ Settings->CONTROLLERS tab, select the NS6 from the top-left list.
Locate the key ONINIT on the left side Key list and delete the fake_master on action.
Locate the MASTER key from the same list. Delete its action.
Restart VirtualDJ. You should be able to control the Master Volume from both the controller and the skin, but with this change, you will not see the Master Vol knob on the skin moving when u move the one from the NS6
