Topic: Weird distorted sound in some songs with high bass

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm new to this program and haven't used it that much. One problem i've run into that i couldn't solve is some weird distortion around certain songs. This distortion is only on this program, nowhere else. There are certain songs in particular that have this problem so much that it sounds to weird to ignore. One example is Tiƫsto - Hell Yeah!. Mostly the Intro and the Chorus are the parts in this particular song that are very distorted. I'm not so pro with this software yet but so far out of what i've tried, nothing worked. Any suggestions?
Might be good to mention that i so far only use the software, no external controllers or decks or anything.

Please make sure you have auto gain just set to auto ( not auto + remember ) and set zero db value to -3db
Please check also if you dont have a filter active by mistake

Also if you have song playing at 130 bpm and change the pitch to like 135 bpm and have key lock or master tempo lock it can make it sound wierd as the program trys to keep the song sounding the same and in key even tho the tempo has changed. You can turn this off in advanced settings.

When you hear this distortion, do you see the limiter light blink on and off?

If you boost the bass knob ( or mid or treble) you most likely will need to reduce the track gain knob.

In fact it is preferred to lower eq knobs rather than boost. If you want, lowering high and mid is like eq boost... but if you raise rather than lower, your track will exceed 0dB threshold. Bass having more energy especially, it can get touchy!

If you are turning up bass without lowering track/deck gain distortion is inevitable. The built in limiter will help somewhat but as I had a 12" car subwoofer on a voltage converter, I'll assess for sure it is surely track/deck gain related. (The VDJ option for -3dB is smart.)
