Topic: Auto Stop Recording or Recording Timer

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

If I build a mix and start to record it, but it is going to go on for a few hours, can it be made to automatically stop when the incoming sound stream stops? Alternatively, is there a time functionality for the record feature?

If I'm correct (what I notice when i tried recording) is that the recording STOPS when VDJ detects that no more signal/sound is playing.

Double check it, edit one mp3 file and add silence to the end of the mp3 file (use Audacity, it should only take you 2 minutes) unless someone will confirm it.

I have a auto play list. I want to record this as a single song. I have options set to only start recording on sound. This works perfectly.

However, it keeps recording past the last song. I walked away for an errand, got stuck there and came back late - I had two hours of silence at the end of the recording!

have you tried using recordAutoStart set to yes ?

and recordWaitForSound set to yes?

These options have vdj start when sound is detected, but do not stop the recording when no sound is recording.
(It would be difficult for vdj to know if you intented to add some break, or if you actually stopped playing)

After X seconds of silence VDJ could stop recording.
Don't know if someone would do a 30 seconds break of pure silence while mixing.

+1

Creating a 1.5 hr wedding cocktail hr mix for a speaker iPod setup in a diff room than reception. Using VDJ 8 to make sure all levels are tight and mix is w/o gaps. Was hoping it would end at the end of the mix but it just keeps goooooooooooiiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg. Would be nice to see an option to wrap up the file after a detecting silence for a set time in a set!
