that is exactly what we use at the 4 clubs our owners have - desktops with dedicated video and audio cards.

we always over-spec when we buy computers for work so we don't have to constantly upgrade and purchase.
 
Desktop I carry in and out of clubs, four nights a week.
 
works on my i7 gaming rig. runs awesome, considered using my pc instead of my laptop, but i think its a bit too much just for audio as i dont do a great deal of video mixing.
 
Just started using an Alienware x51 desktop and loving it!!! i7 3.4 ghz, 8 gb ram & gtx 645
