Topic: Auto sort playlist for best automix

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,

Is there any feature in virtual dj that would sort my playlist in a way that it would be better mixed?

I was wondering that once virtual dj can analyze the tracks to say if it is suitable to be mixed with the next track in the automix, maybe it could sort the playlist in the the best way...

Thanks!

right click the top of one of the playlist columns, choose 'keynum' and sort by camelot key by clicking that column. As long as everything is within about +/- 5bpm you should get an okay automix.

You would also need to make sure your beatgrid is set on all your tracks and may need to move the mixpoints to better locations as VDJ's algorithm isn't always great at setting the mixpoints. To do that right click the bpm button and a menu will appear.

Or maybe you would like to sort by BPM instead of key...

Or maybe you would like to sort by both? I just did this for a playlist I am going to be using at a wedding on Saturday while dinner is going on. I clicked on Key(Numeric) and then sorted it out myslef. Going up and down in the numbers while trying to match the BPM's the best I could. I don't think there is a way to do what you are asking since I just tried myself. There will be a need for some work to be done by yourself.
