Topic: Virtual Dj is not picking up my Timecoded vinyls

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello! Im new to this community and just had a couple questions about my setup that i cant seem to get working.

Set-Up:
im running two ION ITT03A Turn Tables that are connected to an ION IMX02 usb computer mixer. From the mixer i have my RCA to 3.5mm output connected to my speaker input. Each turn table has a virtual dj timecoded vinyl on it. As far as software goes, Im running virtual DJ pro full.

I have my sound configuration settings as follows:

Inputs: set to timecodes
Outputs: set to external mixer

Ive tried messing wit the time code settings but i still cant seem to get virtual dj to recognize the vinyls. it just wont pick them up. is there a setting that i need to apply? can anyone help?

Hello,

which version of Virtual DJ are you using exactely ? (7.??)

As far as i see the mixer does not have stereo Phono inputs that get routed to the Computer - so this setup will never work.

im running 7.4 currently

the mixer does have phono lines..but to be honest i have no idea what those do or why i need them? or how they will get routed to the computer.

also i have a macbook pro if that helps at all.

i appreciate the response!

To use Timecode you need a Soundcard with 2 stereo Phono inputs to connect your Turntables to.

Your mixer just offers 2 stereo connectors to use normal Vinyls with the mixer - this is not wrking for Timecode because this are not Soundcard input channels that get routed to your Computer.

looking at the mixer, i have:
line 1 rca input & phono 1 input
line 2 rca input & phono 2 input
two usb inputs
main rca output

i currently have my inputs in line 1 and line 2. phono 1&2 inputs are empty

tried plugging my outputs from the turntables into the phono inputs. im getting audio out of my speakers and can hear my scratching. but still no songs. VDJ still not reading the vinyls. any suggestions?

thanks,
CT

The USB in this mixer is for output only (I.e: Mouse/keyboard or MIDI controller user.) Plugging turntables into the phono inputs of the mixer will allow you to use them as traditional vinyl decks only for playing normal vinyl records without a computer.

To be able to use timecode, you will need a suitable ASIO capable sound card with at least 4 inputs (2 stereo) and 4 outputs, such as ESI Maya44 USB. Please read our FAQ pages:
