What's up guys. Back again with another malfunctioning mackie speaker. I have two of them and this morning I cut them on and everything was fine. I got home from work and cut them back on and one of them isn't working. I cut down the right speaker to compare and only the horn is working on the malfunctioning one. If you put your war up to the sub. You can hear it making a flangy punch noise. If you turn up at high volumes then it sounds like tee total shit lol. I've tried switching the line inputs coming from the mixer and its definitely something with the speaker. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is this the English forum...

You most likely over cliped the speaker and burnt the woffer coil out, replace the speaker, shop it on line and replace it yourself if they are still under warrenty you will not be covered if you caused the problem and you'll wind up paying anyway...plus shipping.

I thought about that but the speakers never even see the ol light. They might have flashed before but I immediately turned it down a bit to prevent it.

How old is the unit and did you buy it used.?

Yes They were bought used, and are both about a year old. I have the receipt from the date of purchase which was back in feb. Is there any way to check to see if the coil is burnt up?

If it's back in feb when the speakers was purchased, then try the warrenty route, I would anyway it maybe something wrong with the electronics too since you dodn't notice the cliping of the limit light.. that would be my best advice to you....

Hello! Glad that I can actually help on this one. I'm the not-at-all-proud owner of my 3rd pair of TH-15a. 3rd pair, because GC had to replace them twice in one year. Your cones are fine, the problem you describe is exactly what happened to all 6 of mine. There is a capacitor that protrudes off of the back of the amp module, that's not secured by anything other than the two pins that connect it to the board. Normal use vibrates the cap off/to death, causing the (bass) amp module to fry itself, and make the sound you described. This is a known issue, and unfortunately, there aren't any parts out there to fix it with bolt-in-and-play style. I found ONE amp module on the entire internet after months of searching, and it was $150. As said, I'm on my 3rd pair, and out of those, they only repaired one, and replaced the othersothers for precisely this reason.

I hate to say this, but, cut your losses and scavenge them for parts. The cones are actually pretty good, I considered buying $150 powered Harbingers and swapping cones. They ended up going into my bar's Peavys.

Much love.
