Topic: keyboard cue lag

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

cheers all
I just purchased some DJ gear, which included a laptop with Virtual DJ, and the problem I'm having is there is a delay when i use the keyboard cue(c) on my second turntable. following are my specs
Laptop-Gateway
windows 7 home premium 64-bit
intel core i5-2430m @2.40Ghz
4 gigs of ram
2x soundcards
Onboard sound
USB creative X-Fi go sound card

My setup is as follows
I have VDJ set up for dual cards. Internal sound card is bound to deck 1 and creative labs card is bound to deck 2. sampling is matched, and mini-jack to rca cable is running from each soundcard to individual channels on external mixer.

Problem is as follows.
when I load a song in deck 1(sound card 1), there is zero latency. IE I hit the cue shortcut(c on my laptop keyboard) and instantly have a response.
Now if i load a song in Deck 2(sound card 2) I get about 500ms(or so) latency. This makes it difficult and almost impossible to sync mixes.

As a side note, when I have deck 2 running with a song, I have zero latency when mixing deck 1 in. It seems that the issue is with my usb sound card. BUT this is the only app I have that has latency issues with deck 2, or specifically the USB card. I installed fruityloops, and sony acid on as well as PCDJ Dex, and did not have the same problem, so im stuck on what to do know? any ideas without purchasing another soundcard?

Things Ive done....reformatted laptop, shutdown all services not required, not running aero or other windows bling. in a nuttshell the laptop is screaming fast, and cpu meter is hardly being hit......any ideas? Also I have tried the latency in setup, but this solved nothing.

Cheers

This is illegal and a violation of the End User License Agreement: http://www.virtualdj.com/atomixproductions/disclaimer.html

If you are using two different sound cards, then the problem is due to one sound card having different latency/properties to the other. For best results, you should purchase and use a proper dedicated multi-channel DJ sound card such as Numark DJIO.
