Topic: How hook up my Numark Mixtrack Pro to use as a mixer for 2 vinyl Time codes

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey guys

I am extremly new to the world of DJing and require some advice. At the moment i have VDJ full 7.0 with the following hardware

Numark TT100 x2
Numark Mixtrack Pro
Stanton Final Scratch sound interface.
A home theatre reciever
2 Tall non powered home theatre speakers.
Stanton smx mixer.

At the moment this is how i have everything hooked up:

Numark tt100s ---- Finalscratch inputs1/2 & 3/4
Final Scratch outputs 1/2 %3/4 ----- Stanton mixer Inputs 1/2 & 3/4
Stanton mixer Master --- Home theatre reciever ---- Speakers
Final Scratch ----- Macbook via Firewire

Here is my question. I would like to remove the mixer all together, and replace it with the Numark mixtrack pro. So essentially i would like to use the mixtrack as a fully functional mixer, so i can use everything on it including faders, effects, and headphone input. How would i go about to connect all of this, and still get sound from my speakers.

For those of you not familiar with the connections on the Final Scratch please visit this site and look at the picures

The mixtrack has 2 sets of outputs and a USB connection for the computer.

Thanks guys,

Eli

anybody know ???

You've answered your own question there!

"The mixtrack has 2 sets of outputs"

So how are you going to connect turntables to it? It has no inputs!

Go into advanced config and use the Final Scratch box for your timecodes and the Mixtrack Pro as your master output I believe. I did it with a regular Mixtrack and here's how,

Holla if you need more help

Ah I understand how it can be done now....

So he'd only be using the Stanton RCA inputs to get the timecode signal into VDJ via the firewire connection (Stanton -> computer), then the VDJ audio outputs would be routed to the Mixtrack Pro via the USB connection.

So yeah, on the VDJ advanced config page, set up two inputs and two outputs.

Input one would be Stanton 1&2. Input two = Stanton 3&4.

Output one = Mixtrack Pro 1&2. Output two = Mixtrack Pro 3&4.

Yup, you can do amazing things with the advanced config menu.........

Enjoy

Thanks guys, ill have to try it. But i remember trying that idea one night and it was working, but the music was playing backwards, while the turntables were playing forward. I checked the wiring to see if i mixed up right and left channels, but everything was correct. I also inverted the signal. When i did that it played correctly, but the signal quality didnt get past %.

Any thoughts?

Also i noticed with my current setup, im am only using one RCA cable from my Home audio system ( CD channel ) to the mixer master output. Since my mixtrack pro has 2 outputs ( 1&2, 3&4 ), could i just use one of those channels to get sound, or i would need both. If i need both, how would i connect the one RCA to both channels?

I hope im making sense lol

BTW i cant remember the model of my Home theatre system, but in the back its got 6 channels ( cd, VCR, Tape, DSS, DVD, etc ) and you need to select which channel you want to play from. Its also got surrond sound plugs.

Sorry guys that didnt work. any other ideas?

If you want us to help, you have to give us information!

What did you do (exactly) and in what way is it not working?

Hello group,

I was think about purchase the Newark mixtrack DJ software controller, how I own Virtual DJ pro 7.2, will this unit work with my software, and where can I find the mapping for it?

the mixtrack pro works perfectly with VDJ and mapping is included with VDJ pro.
Also it is best to open a separate post for your question and not hijack anothers post. you are kind of off topic with your question.

You will need to register your Pro serial number to your profile and then update to the latest VirtualDJ v7.0.5b. The MixTrack Pro might not work or be supported with an old and out-of-date version of the software such as v7.0.2. MixTrack Pro is natively supported (Plug & play) in the latest version of the software (No mapper is required.)

If you have not purchased VirtualDJ Pro then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html - Your MixTrack Pro entitles you to a discount if it came with VirtualDJ LE included.
