I am running VirtualDJ Home, using an USB external sound card for the main speaker output and the laptop speakers/headphone socket as headphone output. My sound setp is the third option available to me in the config screen "Laptop (with USB sound card)"
While music is playing on one deck the PFL button is pressed on the other deck. Suddenly (apparently at random) the music starts playing out through the laptop speakers too (no headphones plugged in at present). The PFL light is still highlighted on the other deck, I have to click that buttton again to stop the music playing out the laptop speakers.
This issue is not effecting the main speaker output.
I'm running version 7.0.5b (b371)
Anyone got ideas to fix this?

Check the comparison chart. I don't think your version supports separate deck monitoring.

According to the comparisom charts it should work.
I'm only using the two virtual decks within the Virtual DJ software. It does work, as in I can use the PFL buttons to switch the headphone output between the left deck and right deck, while the music continues to play according to the crossfader. It's just that suddenly (and randomly) the music playing on the left deck comes out the headphones even though the PFL button indicates that the headphone should only be playing from the right deck. I click the right hand PFL button and the music stops playing through headphones. Then a little while later it switches itself again, even though the right hand PFL button stays on. (If I reverse Left and Right the same happens).
If no headphones are plugged in the music will suddenly start coming out of the laptop speakers. The workaround is to turn the sound down on the laptop.
Of course it could be in the sound drivers on the laptop.
I just wondered if this was a known problem or if there is an updated version of the software?

The home free version only supports multiple outputs for 10 minutes. Maybe it's just switching back to single output when the time has ran out?

Please see:

If your external USB sound card is multi-channel (E.g: 5.1 surround card, Numark DJIO, etc.), then it will only work for 10 minutes at a time with Home FREE.

I'm using one of the supported configurations for the Home Free version, it works fine all the time. The music is playing all the time through the sound card. The headphones work all the time. There was no message about "only 10 minutes" when I selected the configuration, which there was when I tried one of more advanced ones when I first set it up
I've been using this since January with no problems. This "headphone channel switching on randomly" has only started in the last few days.
The music plays out through the sound card which is a simply usb connected, with only a pair of RCA outputs to the amplifier, the headphone channel is the laptop onboard sound card. The music doesn't stop playing via the sound card when the headphone channel starts playing the music. I'm just trying to find out if there is a similar known fault if if there is a more recent version than mine.

Current version is 7.05b, you can check which version you have installed in the config tab.

VirtualDJ Home FREE is free limited software and does not support using a microphone (Such as that built into your USB headset.)
For full microphone support, you will need to purchase either VirtualDJ Basic or the full Professional (Pro is required if you also wish to use MIDI controllers, full-screen video, etc.): http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
