Topic: New Dj gear question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey guys so ive recently picked up a few pieces of equipment and was just wondering how best to set up my setup.. if that makes sense... I have a traktor s2, traktor kontrol x1, traktor audio 2 dj, and maschine mikro. also have a pacemaker. I just dont know if i should get a sound card or anything else. I love hardware so if anyone recomends any other peices of gear that would be either a) a cool adition that would add some different options or b) anything that would enhance the current equipment i have. thanks for the help guys. also i have ableton live 8 and traktor pro 2 that i use mainly for my software. and the maschine software.

You do realize that you are on Virtual DJ's forum, not Tracktor's. How are you asking Tracktor related questions on VDJ forum. If I was a moderator I would be kicking a lot of people off; Like these serato and tracktor users who are always on VDJ forum. What is the matter with your own forums?

because i have been messing around with vdj software.... key word.... general.... discussion

I believe you should think of it as "General discussions regarding Virtual DJ". You shouldn't be discussing the weather here, either :)

Remember that it's not VDJ's fault that you have chosen to pay for the software that doesn't come with good support. I know, because I have paid for both and prefer VDJ, both regarding the software itself, and surely regarding the support. But Traktor does have a forum: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=105

But Traktor has this going for it, which you should consider buying, if you don't already have it: http://www.traktorbible.com. This site also holds other useful information regarding your possible setup

I just wanted to add to this a little...

Please read below the description of the forum:

Discussions about VirtualDJ, Numark Cue, Numark Virtual Vinyl, AtomixMP3, ... and about DJing in general*
This a general discussion forum, please be polite and speak with respect. Before posting, please read the forum rules and FAQ. If you are experiencing technical issues or protection errors please contact Service Support.

I put a certain part in bold, as it could be said that despite being about Traktor, the question is regarding "DJing in general".

There is a 2 part question, a) about hardware and b) about enhancing their current equipment.

Maybe a better approach would have been to suggest purchasing or trying VDJ with some hardware choices? After all this community is supposed to have a reputation of being friendly and helpful... I just think that it would be better to help a potential customer and fellow VDJ user than to potentially scare them away...

with all that gear, it sounds like it's time for you to learn how to use it properly, that gear could do almost anything you want it to do... you shouldn't need a soundcard as you already have 2 at your disposal, unless you want to incorperate timecode vinyl into your setup (not sure if the s2 has phono inputs... if you want to use vdj with that gear, the only one that has mapping and a definition provided is the kontrol x1, if you want to use the s2 there is a mapping on the internet that costs $10 but I can't say who sells it on this the forum as it breaches atomix's private selling rule...

for the micro you woud need to define it in HID before it will work, which is well beyond my level of experience and ability to understand, but you can get help from the teamers and cstoll if needed. more info on HID definition files is in the links below

Unfortunately Native instruments products will never be supported in vdj as Native Instruments don't want them to be..

Guys,

Please treat all forum users with respect even if they use a competitors product. This forum is for general DJ advice as well as help directly related to VDJ.

Thanks

Keith
