Topic: Is There Any Way To Disable The Waveform In Virtual DJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey guys.

Just want to know if the waveform can some how be disable or removed from virtual DJ.

Reason for this is because i never use it as i always beatmatch in my headphones an to be honest its a little annoying having it there when i never use it plus it always quite jerky.

Cheers guys.

you can delete it by deleting this for the vdj7 skins, just use ctrl f and look for the word "rhythm"

<rhythm pannel="Rhythm">
<size width="940" height="45"/>
<pos x="40" y="35"/>
*** BLUE ***
<chan1_active1 x="40" y="1430"/>
<chan1_active2 x="40" y="1900"/>
*** RED ***
<chan2_active1 x="40" y="2036"/>
<chan2_active2 x="40" y="930"/>
*** OVERLAY ***
<both_active1 x="40" y="1970"/>
<both_active2 x="40" y="2105"/>

<grid1 width="5" mainwidth="11">
<size width="950" height="5"/>
<pos x="40" y="85"/>
<active1 x="40" y="1430"/>
<active2 x="40" y="1900"/>
</grid1>
---- GRID ------
<grid2 width="5" mainwidth="11">
<size width="950" height="5"/>
<pos x="40" y="90"></pos>
<active1 x="40" y="2036"/>
<active2 x="40" y="930"/>
</grid2>
---- CUE MARKERS ------
<cue1>
<size width="940" height="50"/>
<pos x="40" y="26"/>
<down x="40" y="1430"/>
<mask x="602" y="2195" width="13" height="14"/>
<text dx="9" dy="0" font="ARIAL GREEK" size="12" color="#B0E0FF"/>
</cue1>
<cue2>
<size width="940" height="50"/>
<pos x="40" y="26"/>
<down x="40" y="2106"/>
<mask x="602" y="2195" width="13" height="14"/>
<text dx="9" dy="0" font="ARIAL GREEK" size="12" color="#FF6868"/>
</cue2>
</rhythm>

If its jerky there might be some under lying problem. The wave should be smooth flowing.....

Good Luck
Huey

The waveform has never been smooth all the years i have been using. Not even on my home pc which is a high spec gaming pc

How to hell do i get all that information up to delete it.

What do i press ctrl and f in?

you have to open the zip file in the skins folder, open the skin xml and yes pres ctrl and f on your keyboard to search the document

To delete, left click and hold down from the beginning of text to the end of text you want to delete, release and all text should be highlighted, right click on highlighted area and choose delete... done.

LOL, you could also press ctrl and x to cut the text once it's highlighted;-P

Does this not leave a big blank space on the screen, where the waveform used to be?

yeah it does, you could probably put other stuff in there, but that requires changing the picture and some coding, if you want to move everything up the page that requires a huge amount of modfication

This is one of the annoying things about using bitmap graphic skins.

We really should have the option (in config) to choose what we want displayed.

Waveform, no waveform. Mixer, no mixer and so on. The first ever DJ software that I used, years ago, was able to do that!

Oh well, maybe VDJ 8 will have a default vector graphics display, with skins being optional....

I guess you can use other skins without the waveform.

Yes, but you're at the mercy of the skin designer.

There are so many skins. Some have feature A but not B, some have B but not A.

Some have good features but are not visually appealing (everyone's taste is different).

A lot of other audio and video software has screen layouts that can be adjusted and customised.

True..............but no with no other software can you can FULLY customize the skin to you EXACT liking. That's way most of us learn how to build our own skins. I suggest everyone give it a try instead of complaining about the skins.........

Good Day
