I have about 800$ to spend on new gear, I already own the hercules RMX controller but I feel like I should get an upgrade, and something that looks more professional.
I am comparing a 800$ controller with a 400$ one, I know.
What I ask is for you to put yourself in my situation and help me decide what to buy.
I am 18 years old, DJ at my current high school dances and the schools around me hire me too sometimes. I also DJ at partys or for myself. Would I benefit from having the Denon over the AA, and is the 400$ difference worth it?
I want to upgrade to virtual DJ pro asap, and also get new DJ headphones so the VMS4 would be the more economical option.
I eventually want to buy turntables to use them with these controllers, I know it is possible to do that with the hercules RMX, do the Denon or AA have that option too? thanks for your input, very much appreciated.

any help?

Paul, calm down, this post is barely an hour old. Give the members a chance to read and respond. Personally, I am not very fond of my VMS4 but, there are several users who are. As with all things, it boils down to personal taste.
As to your turntable question. My response is, why? Don't get me wrong I own turn tables. But, why invest in them when midi controllers are higher quality and companies are investing in improving them? No one is investing in improving turn tables.

I say the same thing to everyone that ask this question. Only you can make this decision. You need to compare the features, the size, the feel. Another thing, buy what you want, not what you can afford. You will end up buying what you want anyway. I just happen to have bought the mc6000 last month and love it. I do club and mobile, and the two mic inputs was a must. They also have separate eqs, for each mic. I also needed the booth out, as I always use a monitor. It can also be used for a second zone, but I use the other main out or the record out for that. I also like that the headphone jack is on the left. The VMS4 is a nice unit, but did not have the versatility that I needed. Look over this forum for some other reviews of both these products.
Turntables? My two 1200s are going on ebay as soon as I get time. Been there, done that a long time ago. Just like my ex wives.

DENON+VIRTUAL DJ THE BEST
Posted Mon 12 Sep 11 @ 3:06 am
The MAJOR difference between the two units is that the VMS4 has FOUR stereo audio channels via USB from the computer, so can truly be used with four separate decks through the hardware mixer.
The Denon, despite being advertised as a "four deck controller" and even having 'deck change' buttons, only has TWO stereo audio channels via USB. The only way to use four decks is to use the virtual mixer in your DJ software.
The VMS4 can also be switched to work with time code systems, when it becomes 'two in/two out'. Another thing the Denon can't do.
It's up to you to decide whether either of those things are essential to you....
As for the audio quality though, the VMS4 loses the battle. As it only runs from a 5v supply, the overhead of the mixer is dire and it's easy to distort the output. It can be overcome by running the channels lower than you normally would, but then of course the output level suffers.
I've not heard the Denon but going by their rep and the audio quality of Denon kit generally, I doubt they'd make that mistake.

There was a vendor at the Expo in AC selling MC-6000's for $650, still wish I had bought one although I don't need one.
Without having used either the AA or Denon, I would go Denon. Theres always a great deal out there on something, why limit yourself to just two?
Save a few more bucks and catch a 10, 15, 20% off sale from Guitar Center or AGI Prod and go for the NS6.

The Denon is a better deck.. The VMS4 feels cheap & The Audio quality is bad.

I wouldn't buy another VMS4 myself, bad audio quality and I didn't like that the knobs were not very accurate in MIDI mode. Can't go wrong with the Denon

If you ever plan on playing clubs buy the Denon since the audio quality of the VMS4 will make you sound like a noob in a club.

I own both. If I was to buy one of those again it would be the Denon.

Yes, I had the VMS4 and returned it in days. Distortion on the output, dodgy LEDs and jogwheels and unusable mic channels.
I got the MC6000 in December and it's perfect in every way. Sound output is crystal clear, mic channels are excellent and the integration with VDJ is superb provided you spend a little time remapping it to your personal preference.

I Just bought an MC6000 myself. Waiting for it to come in. I'm Glad to hear all the positive feedback. I was going between it and the ns6 but had to have two mics as I am primarily a wedding/party dj. Hope it lives up to the Denon standard I'm used to. I've owned the d4500, d6000, hd2500. This will be the first one I've used as a controller for vdj though.
