My lighting set up is as follows
1- ADJ Revo 4
2 - ADJ Mega Bar 50's
2- Agressor Tri LED
2- micro Galaxian
The question is should I or can I set the Revo 4 to Master and Slave the Mega Bars to it? These will be run on sound mode for now until I go full DMX. Thoughts?
The other lights are fine on sound mode as I can control them with the Elation Co-Pilot II and they will not run all the time.

Typically, The master/slave setup only works when identical fixtures are connected together. Unlike DMX, the master/slave communication can be specific to individual manufactures and fixtures.

On the other hand, since these are both ADJ products, they could work together. I would call ADJ or try their forum, to see if it's possible.

I'm thinking that even two different ADJ fixtures are going to have different sets of functions. In a master/slave setup, the master fixture transmits the function controls to the other fixtures in that chain. If one fixture has a different set of functions, the other fixtures won't understand the commands if they don't have that specific function...

I try sound activation( slave lighting ) with my lights and it didn't give me the view looking for so I sold all my sound light but 3 and got all DMX lights with a obey40 controller now i can do sound activation with the DMX controller or I can program scenes and banks and color scenes with my obey40 DMX controller.

Eventually I will be doing the same (Obey70 on next order), but for now I am using sound mode with Co-Pilot II so I can control what is on and what is off at all times.
I'm thinking since they are all three ADJ lights it should work. I will ask around on ADJ forum or support.

Sorry, wont work.. If you check your manuals for each light, you will notice the DMX channel assignments are different for each light..

not recommended.. many DMX lights use transformers and voltage regulators.. turning 'off & on' the light too rapidly can cause a surge and burn out the control circuits..
Your best bet is too get the freestyler software and a USB to DMX dongle.. or a hardware DMX controller like the one pictured above (though freestyler is cheaper and easier to program)

I do not turn them on and off too quickly or often. The idea is to give a different look throughout the night. Putting a light in Standby mode is really in essence the same thing you do when putting it in standby with full DMX. Every third song or so I will use Galaxians, turn them off and use Strobes for a song or half a song, etc.
I am not talking about turning on the lights and switching effects every 20 seconds or so.
