I accidently deleted 5,000 songs last year, of course I never backed anything up, but I am back up to 7,000 plus now.
Where are you at? I have a feeling I need to step my music grabbin up.
And that's "many" no man.

13 000 now, with over 2 000 videos in that.
It's all about quality not quantity though, I have a filter folder of "never played" songs and it's got well over half my library in it!

Roughly 5000 songs, which is my 26 years worth of DJ collection. I hate over bloated libraries full of songs you'll never play.
I know one guy who has 35000 songs and plays roughly 100 a night at a 5 hour gig.
I regularly clear out recent chart songs that have faded in to the distance.

Right now I'm around the 30,000mp3 mark with my gig pc. I have around 15,000mp4's. Then I have an "uncatalogged" file with an additional 30,000mp3 files ranging from the 50's to the present. Of course there are triples and doubles but I am trying to weed them out along with a few I will probably never use. I still have many vinyl tracks (remixes, etc.) that I still haven't converted. I'm an Urban DJ but I collect all genres just in case for future use. I like to call it a progress in work, It's a pain!

Between my external hard drives, san disk and itunes, roughly over 11,000 and that's not including the records I still have in storage, which is about 27 crates in total.

12 inches... All round! LOL It's not how big your uh... collection is its how relevant to your audience it is and how you use it that counts, I have about 5000 spanning many genres collected over 9 years, to me anything past 10000 for anyone but a professional mobile dj who has to cater to everyone's taste is borderline obsession, not to mention illegal and disrespectful to the artists and the scene that supports you. Rant over LOL

Now here's another question: How many of your tracks are legally obtained?
My personal collection spans in the thousands, although I collect only music I personally like. Every single track I own is legally obtained and even though I receive fair amount of tracks from record labels as promo-releases and other legal free sources, I've still spent quite a lot of money on my collection.
I have a hard time believing that a collection that spans in the hundreds of thousands is all legally obtained - even more so considering that DJ'ing is not a gold mine.

28 terabytes of video.....sure thing i will send them all as soon as I have your check for $33,000 and it clears my bank because that is roughly how much I have spend on video subscriptions since I started coillecting ETV's in 1997

Not a gold mine but it used to pay pretty damn good until about 5 years ago...at least if you were good you could make a vey nice living.

I've always found it rather amusing - and I don't mean this as an insult towards anyone - that it's even possible to make a living by playing recorded music done by other people :)

I think the previous statement is ridiculous, DJing is very much a job, why wouldn’t you get paid? obviously the more professional and the more high profile the jobs are the more you get paid.
It takes a lot to be able to earn a decent living from DJing and most DJ's never will because they sell them selves short in order to win jobs over the competition, something that I've never done.
Decide if you want to get book for being cheap or good?

I have no idea how many songs, but my collection weighs in just under 2 TB's -
Nice to be in the company of other people equally obsessed.
