150,000 takes about 1.5TB All Genre

nope, not when i use mp3. a lot are low sample rate so file size is reduced. plus files are compressed and zipped.

you obv dont copress your files to save space. theres only so much you can use at once. just unzip as you need them.

I've always found it rather amusing - and I don't mean this as an insult towards anyone - that it's even possible to make a living by playing recorded music done by other people :)

No insult taken, I can certainly understand the implied irony, but when you really look at it aren't most things being sold actually digital or manufactured copies of someone's intellectual creations? I can't have a writer come to my house to narate a magazine article for me so he sells it to a magazine who in turn re-sells copies of it to millions of readers, photographers sell their photographic art to (magazines, postcard companies, galleries, etc.) who then make untold number of copies to re-sell, software companies profit by selling someone's software designs, movie studios sell the viewing of others acting...need I go on? music is no different.

Isn't it also ironic we purchase digital copies of Atomix's creation that we use as a means to play that music on!

I have 2 internal drives with no music, only my music software, drivers and related files. My content is on my four externals equaling about 8 terabytes. I have approximately 650,000+ mp3, aac, FLAC, etc. 90,000 karaoke mostly in .zip files and 40,000 music videos in various formats. I believe I have much more than I am listing, these are only conservative figures... lol

I continue to grow my library weekly. I have transferred nearly all of my vast collection of vinyl, cassette, CD and DVDs over the last two years. I have been collecting music since I was a kid, over 30 years worth!! Some of it I have updated form various MP3 pools and DJ music subscriptions but I still have my originals!

Keep Spinnin'!!

I have about 100,000 songs or so in MP3, just over 500gig, 123,000 karaoke songs and about 3 tb of video half .vob and the other MP4.

I just did a file check in VDJ on each of my HD's and it says that I have 127,710 karaoke files but the videos & music are basically what I said. I am now doing a DB update on each drive which will likely raise the number on all files. I should do that more often because when I did this past weekend's gig, music & videos I had added recently were not showing up in the search. I had to manually look for them.

Wow! After updating my databases on all drives I found that i have 150,787 karaoke files! Music & video went up slightly but it had been awhile since I updated the DB on my karaoke drive and found a bunch I had forgotten about on the other 3 externals. No wonder I couldn't find certain songs at my last karaoke gig that I knew I had, SOMEWHERE! It's all accounted for now.

I'm glad this thread popped up because I now realize I can't totally rely on VDJ to auto update when new files are introduced...

Geeez Rude - 8 TB's is borderline unhealthy mate. ;)
That's an impressive disorder you have there... ha!

I thought my little 2 tb's was good...
Mind you, I don't collect music I don't like, and I don't have/do any karaoke.
I'm just clubs and party DJ so no need for it really (or requested for that matter).

But even still 8 TBs... sheesh...!

about 20000 mp3 and wav's

1400 videos

i spent a lot of time deleting dupes and unplayed or lousy trax and organizing

filter folders , virtual folders and playlists are great to use

How the hell do you guys get so many songs- like 20k + ?

Well, personally, I started collecting music and messing with turntables in 1994 - so it's taken me a while to get a respectable collection.

I have a filter folder of "never played" songs

What's the "Filter Folder" string for never played songs? This is something I need to do that would help whittle down my stash.

@Jay,
lastplay=0

Really good question?

All know is that I can take you back to the days when I was buying 12in singles at $3 bucks a pop, not to mention the albums in vinyl & CD forms at $10, the majority of my collection has been converted to mp3. I honestly wish I could have spent $1 for each song over the years or had a grooveshark, but unfortunately that wasn't the case, because I know over the years, I spent a lot more than a $100,000 to get my collection where it is today. Just glad that all the songs I've purchase over the years were tax deductible.

My cd collection was at about 600 & my tape collection, yeah tapes, are at about 600.

I have garaged most of that stuff and gave away about 2500 pieces of vinyl.

my old cd collection hit about 2400 ......

back in the early pleistocene i had about 500 vinyl

and 500 cassettes

yes, i had 8 tracks but not many

you should get the premium membership and pep up yer boring

pathetic life.......

not only will you add a mere 8 million songs to your collection.....

you will live longer and get laid more

PLUS if you ACT NOW, i will throw in a copy of my new cd compilation called....

NOW THAT'S the Anti-Christ ! .......

yes , it features Justin Bieber ! and the first one in the series features Justin covering

the greatest hits of ......Slipknot !!!!!!!!!!!!!

operators are standing by

@ Man-Tk ......

yeah some of the numbers thrown around get hard to believe ....

especially over say , 50K or 100K .......

i have a folder called "no folders" which has no sub-folders , so if i drop a "new" track

in it , the count will go up by one , or , windows will pop up the duplicate file box and ask if you want to replace the old copy

or keep both copies , or only keep the new copy .....that folder has 22,000 , but of course you can still

have dupes (and i do ) so i say i have 20K ........
