Topic: Genre Folder

I've been recently doing a lot of database maintainence (mainly updating year and genre ID3 tags).

I've noticed that since I've been cleaning up the genre tags, it's leaving many genre folders in the file system menu empty. This is perfect, since some genre folders make absolutely no sense to begin with.

My question is: Is there a way to get rid of these empty genre folders?

it is a little odd that you can't edit the list but it's no big deal either

genre's make as much sense as any other names ......

not sure i understand......

chucknorrisyouwimps might not make sense to others , but i like it better than froderic .....

just don't play post-punk psychedelic polka at the VFW
 
let me clarify chuck...

4 folder all classified as the same genre, just in a different way.

Alt/Rock
Alternative/Rock
Rock/Alternative
Alternative-Rock

So say I change all the genres to Alt/Rock, this would leave the other 3 folders empty and those 3 genres are no longer left in file system. I just want to remove the folders so I don't have to search a mile and a half long list of genres.
 
UPDATE:

Answered my own question. Close and re-open the software and VIOLA!!!!
 
what did you do ?

when i right click genre it does nothing

if i right click a folder it shows suggestions or download suggested .... ?
 
How that folder works is by your tracks ID3 tags........... For example, if you have a song that has "Remix" as the genre then there will be a sub folder named "Remix" under the genre folder. So if you go edit your ID3 tags and change all tracks with "Remix" as the genre that sub folder will not appear in your "Genre" folder the next time you open VDJ.

i see cried the blind man.....

i don't use the genre system at all

everything i need goes in virtual , favorite and filter folders

for instance , to find my new netsearch download , instead of fumbling thru the cache , (which is large )

i just look in the "unscanned" filter folder for the new item
 
try "recently added" folder as well chuck!

The filter system in VDJ is amazing!
 
I have 2 rap/hip-hop genres showing up in my files ;the syntax is the same in the id3 field; some files are assigned to one, others to rap/hip-hop number 2; I would like all the files assigned to only 1 file. Can anyone hep?u
