OK then, I want to start dabbling with video mixing. I had a fantastic gig Sat. night and VDJ was awesome, ran flawlessly!! I looked onto the packed dancefloor and thought if I could project a video onto the wall or dancefloor it would be amazing!

These are my specs of my pc cube;
AMD Athlon XP2500+
1 gig RAM
120GB hard disks x2
SoundBlaster Audigy 2
Bog standard 64mb video/graphics card.

My quetsions are;

1. Do I need to upgrade my video/graphics card to pull off trouble free video mixing?
or
2. Do I need to upgrade my whole system?
3. What graphics/video card do you suggest/recommend?

I have messed about with small mpegs and it does seem a little jerky at times.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Craig

A video card would be the first thing, i'm on my third now.
Also understand that at this point the program is struggling with dual signals so make your transitions quickly to avoid the latency.
This will certainly improve in the future.

And yes, it is amazing.

I am upgrading my video card on my new system from a 128 shared to a 256 Radeon 9250. Will this make a big difference in the lagging video (only happens when loading) or will i not notice?

How much system ram are you running?

When I went to 256 I did notice an overall improvement.

Will do. The only time the video skips is when another is loading. It is slight but noticable. Do you have these issues? Maybe it's the program. I am recording my DVD's in MPEG1 instead of DIVX. I couln't figure out the DIVX. Didn't look so hot.

MPEG is better for mixing video than Divx, i'm writing a little thesis to tell everybody why mpeg is better than divx or wmv to play videos.
