Topic: Netsearch usage great but DPC latency showing red single bar when wireless active

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ok so I am going to ask how everyone that pays for Netsearch Pro downloads a requested song without causing some kind of
glitch, pops, sound gaps during your gig? I seem to get it when I hit FN /F2 on my laptop and that activates my wireless and it also does it when turning off. I love the feature of having Netsearch Pro...and I normally download in advance if I know what to expect of the party..
but we all know..those requests will arise...
Anyway..I ran the Latency checker and all in green without wireless connected..but when I do connect..only 1 red bar appears as expected and travels across till its out of range and then another appears 10 sec later.
Does everyone stay connected all night? or is it just my laptop that picks up this connection noise and makes VDJ hesitate and skip during
a gig?.I dont have anything else running, antivrus.spybot,in the background.

Any tips or advice?

appreciate any direction or advice.. can I shut off WLAN and Network card and still have the wireless card usable? or does the WLAN
KILL my chances of a connection. Reaso why I ask is that I want to use my DROID phone to create a hotspot so I can connect to Netsearch
during a gig .Thats my Master plan!
Im at work now so I cant reply with the latest ver for the card..but will reply ASAP when I get home...meanwhile standing by to read any suggestions.
Thankyou

Thankyou for your help.I updated the driver and it still pops, drops out during the connection process while playing. And also hesitates when shutting down.Although my solution to this issue is to switch my music source to a cd, or usb stick, or switch to my ipod prior to connecting
and make good on the requested song.Once fully downloaded on the deck then switch back to pc.So far if I stay connected and dont diconnect it plays through with no problems...so thats a plus! I guess the mixdeck has its advantages.

I believe the pc needs that cpu power for a split second to shake hands with the wifi card...no way getting around it unless someone has any ideas..?

It's not quite that simple. Essentially the DPC queue (only one per processor) which handles many things (and most importantly to us is critical to streaming real-time audio) can easily be tied up by a poorly written driver. If the queue is delayed - say by the WiFi driver misbehaving - then other DPCs suffer. This means that your audio card may not receive it's data in time = problem!

Not all WiFi devices cause this - like I say it's driver implementation that is a big problem. You could always look into Expresscard or USB wireless devices as a workaround.

Ok I will try a usb external and see what happens.Thanks....I assumed no matter which unit I used it would do the same..ahh what ever works!

Ill try tomorrow tonight and let you know..
Thanks once again!

Just an update...The Belkin usb wireless unit works perfectly...no spikes during the entire session! I disabled the onboard Realtek wireless card. The only spike it had was on connecting and that never even made a hiccup to the music what so ever.I can right click on taskbar icon and activate when needed and disconnect just as easy.
Appreciate your time on helping with this.

Now I will need to work on connecting to the Droid phone hotspot it creates when connections arnt available.

Cool.

Luckily creating APs on Android is nice and easy :)
