I just purchased the hercules mk2, its coming in on Saturday. I was wondering if someone could explain to me exactly how to connect to the my A/V equipment. I know how to connect it to my laptop, just alittle confused about the hook up to my amp.
First i'm using
1. Pioneer VSX-1015 a/v receiver as my amp
2. Virtual Dj Pro 5, with mixlab skin (forget which version it is)
3. Toshiba satellite laptop.
4. hercules mk2
The thing that i'm confused about is the connection of the mk2 to the amp. Theres 1/2 rca and a 3/4 rca both outputs. Do I have to bring them together as one on my input on my amp, to play both decks together? Or just only use one of the 2 to play both decks?
The other question i had is, will the virtual dj pro 5 work with the mk2? will the mixlab skin i use work with the controller?
Thanks for your help, Dave

The connections depends how you intend to work.
I would say that you are most likely to use the headphone output of the Mk2 for previewing, so you'll only have to connect Output 1/2 (the main output) to your amp.
The audio configuration in VDJ should look like this:
- Input : None
- Output(s): Headphone
-Soundcard: DJ Console Mk2
In this configuration ,Output 3/4 carries the same signal as the headphone output, so no need to connect it to your amp.
The MK2 is natively supported by Virtual DJ since version 3.4, so it will definitely work with version 5. You may want to enter your serial number in your profile to get access to the latest updates though...

So does this mean i'll have to bring the 1/2 and the 3/4 together as one with Y-cables then, go into my amp?

Let me put it another way:
- Output 1/2 of the console to the input of your amp
This is your main mix: you go from one deck to the other using the crossfader.
- Heaphone connected to the front of the MK2
This is your preview mode. You use the switch to decide what you want to listen to (Deck A, Deck B, Mix, Split)
That's it.
