Topic: Peavey UL15 speakers

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I must say - The new style Peavey UL15's are a load or crap!! I bought a pair 2 years ago and for the 3rd time again, one is going back in for repair!!
I have the same problem with the same speaker over and over again! The horn stops working!! Apparently it’s a protection fuse inside the speaker!! I’ve just got back from doing a Gala, About half way through it I turned my mic on and got a slight bit of feed back then guess what the horn on the same speaker went! I think its just not being my day!!

On the first occasion it happened I fought it could have been my amp, so I upgraded to a Peavey PV2600 and yes at 8ohms like the speakers, but no the horn went a second time so got it repaired and now its broken again!!

I wouldn't recommend these speakers at all!! I’m now seriously considering selling them possibly for some logics - don't know yet
Also the covering on the speakers is very tacky so my advice there defiantly is to buy some covers for them!!

Thanks Richard...

PS. I use to have Peavey PR15’s top and bass, they where a lot better..

Hi Richard,

You'll have problems with all those speakers, PR, ST, UL etc etc, I was the same always re-coneing them and messing about with the horns.

The finish has got worse over the years too, the don't put metal corners on them anymore, alloy top hats have gone and there now plastic, handles are cheap.

Just get rid and go with some Logic system speakers like you said or some FBT's, some on ebay 280526199558 or 270598291487

I never like peaveys if you want performance for your dollar buy behringers or if you can afford it JBLs they sound amazing.

Hi Guys just been reading all the problems you are having with peavey ul speakers I went to these for my disco and run ul15 with ul215 bins and use cs3000 amps
and I have been for last 5 years with no problems and realy push these speakers the fuse is a ten min fix if it does go and costs about a quid to buy cheaper than a new horn
would buy these again without a doubt

Dug up a four year old post?
