Many Djs use laptops for only mixing Mp3's and others use one for Mixing Mp3's and music videos. For the NS7.. You need to look at this..
Macintosh
•Mac OS 10.4.11 or higher (including Snow Leopard)
•32-bit - Intel processor, 1.8GHz Core Duo; 1GB RAM
•64-bit - Intel processor, 2.4GHz Core Duo; 4GB RAM
•2GB RAM
•1024 x 768 screen resolution
•Available USB 2.0 port
•Available Hard disk space for music
Windows
•32-bit Windows 7, Vista, or XP
◦32-bit requirements: 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 2MB L2 cache; 2GB RAM(Win Vista), 1GB RAM(XP)
•64-bit Windows Vista
◦64-bit requirements: 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo processor; 2MB L2 cache; 4GB RAM
•1024 x 768 screen resolution
•Available USB 2.0 port
•Available Hard disk space for music
Note: Beta drivers are now available for the NS7 which offer unofficial support for 64-bit versions of Windows 7. We recommend a minimum 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 3MB L2 cache; 4GB RAM for 64-bit operation. You can always find the latest drivers for the NS7 here.
To buy a laptop a " new " laptop that has above the minimum form what is listed here, You will have to spend about 700 bucks maybe more. If you look above, you will notcie XP uses less resources.. You can buy a 400-500 dollar laptop that comes with Windows 7 and Uninstall the OS and add windows XP pro 32 bit. The OS is around 50-80 bucks. Now you will be above the minimum because XP requires less resources than any other other OS. Look at this. http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0325764
This is up to you if you want to spend less and have something above the minimum the of what is listed.

I have a Sony Vaio. Duo Core, 3 gigs of RAM, running VISTA. I play audio only. I would only recommend a Vaio and VISTA to someone who is experienced enough to get rid of all the bloatware. Other than that, it runs fine.
