I'm an OTS AV user and have made the witch to Virtual DJ and loving it.
Anyone else took the big change recently?

I've used OTS before and was OK with it. I have always liked VDJ better. I did a series of videos on VDJ and karaoke on my YouTube channel and some guy there tried to tell me OTS was far better and so on. That guy was an idiot... lol

What's up with OTS AV? what made you change?

I never had OTS AV, but I use silver on my old laptop and VDJ on both my old and new. IMHO the automix feature is far superior in OTS, but it comes at the price of having to scan all your files, whereas VDJ you can literally drag and drop your files into VDJ where you can't with OTS - or at least not with my version.
It was a huge decision for me to try out and use VDJ exclusively - only because I was stepping out of my comfrot zone in regards to computer based DJ-ing. VDJ offers much more flexibility and the biggest part for me is not having to scan each file - thus creating more files on the HD and losing valuable HD space.
I have a buddy that uses OTS only and I have been trying for at least a year to get him to switch - he refuses, but that;s because he got complacent and kinda lazy...drag and drop a playlist instead of reading the crowd, etc. I feel I've passed him as a dj by leaps and bounds. In that year I've gone from using 2 programs to do music and karaoke to just 1, started spinning videos, and taken my mixing to levels he can only dream about.
Don't get me wrong I can't say enough good things about OTS' stability and ease of use. However, with VDJ I've grown as a DJ, KJ and VJ. My advice is to play around and learn everything about this awesome program...you'll be glad you did!

I'm with Charlie whats up with Ots-av i use it and vdj but i don't slag one off against the other. If you make a statement at least back it up with a reason or the facts as to why you like or dislike a product.

I love OTS users jumping on their high horse, the reality is VDJ is a better product for those who need more features for creative DJing.
The only reason i created this thread was to get an idea of the amount of EX OTS users who changed over.
As I'm sure you may heave seen if you registed with the OTS forums that their are a lot of OTS licences for sale, I'm just curious to know how many of those people have moved to Virtual DJ.

OTS was the 1st dj software I started with but they took too long to advance. Great sound engine. To complicated to set up. GUI is out date. I still play with it when they send a new update, once every year or two to see if it has evolved. Solid program for sure. Never crashed on me once. Pain in the butt to install on a back up computer or install on a new system due to their serial number thingy. I haven't tried out the karaoke or video features as again seems to be a lot of setting up to work properly. Great sound engine from the get go of OTS. I always thought that once they had more competition in this market they would have worked faster on their developement but over the last 10 or so years they have still kept the same pace of developement. I know many that still swear by OTS and have no interest in trying other software like VDJ because they became comfortable using OTS over the years because itis a solid product.
If it ain't broke, don't replace it... (something like that !)

No-one slagged anything off; the user simply stated he switched. Maybe there were features in VDJ he wanted to be able to use?

Infact there where features I wanted Like "Looping" and more MIDI controllers to choose from.
I also liked the idea of more formats to use instead of just ONE

You've already asked this (and got a reply) elsewhere.
Please don't cross post. Oh, and don't dig up three year old threads. :-)
