Topic: Guide To Setup ESI Maya 44 Usb For Timcodes - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Ok guys i have just logged into forum and noticed there is a few of you having problems setting up the esi maya for timecoded Vinyl

Here i am gonna try my best to help you all with a quick guide.

1. Got to http://download.esi-audio.com/?w=esi&p=40&g=2&l=en and download the latest esi asio drivers and then install. (Do not plug in the esi until asked during setup).

2. Now you need to connect your cables. Conect turntable 1 to analog in 1+2 on the maya 44 (White 1 and Red 2). Then connect turntable 2 to analog in 3+4 on the maya 44 (white 3 and Red 4).
Then connect the maya 44 to your mixer in this order channel 1 from your mixer to the maya analog out 1+2 (White 1 and Red 2). Then channel 2 from your mixer to the maya analog out 3+4 (White 3 Red 4).

3. Now Launch VDJ and goto your config/ sound setup tab and set it up to the picture below.

4. Now click the asio config located under your selected sound card and that will open the maya 44 control panel and you want to goto the control tab and set it to the picture below.

5. Now you want to go to your timecode config and set that up. Firstly select which timecode engine you want in my case i use Serato CV02 vinyl side A So i select that from the drop down box. Now drop the needle on your timecode vinyl and press play.
You will now more than likley have to turn the gain knob up abit to get your perfect circle within the 4 green boxes like the picture below.

6. Now if your circle is not circle (If it is egg shaped) Then you will have to adjust either the left/right knob or the anti/phase knob to get your circle shape. Once you have got this perfect or near perfect then stop the timecoded vinyl with your hand and you will see that there is a smallish green blob within the center. Adjust your silence knob until the grey area covers this green blob. (This is so virtual dj knows that the record has been stopped).

7. Now click ok and also click apply within the sound tab and that should be it ready to go.

This is only a basic guide to get you going you are probaly going to have to adjust further settings like latency settings within the maya 44 control panel (But mine works all fine with everything on normal) and also options within the debug menu as everyones dj equipment and computers are different and also people want there software to work how they like it to but if you need any further help or any of the other advanced settings explaining to you then post on this thread and i will help you the best i can.

Hey, I have done the following like you said but it still doesn't pick up my time coded viynls, I bought cv02 seratos just for VDJ6 but they do not seem have any signal with VDJ6 but they work using noisemap VDJ 5 so I was hoping you mite be able to help me a little more. I have the following:

Technics 1210's
Maya 44 Usb
Serato Scratch live CV02

Any help is much appreciated, I even installed the latest maya 44 software but no luck as of yet? I tried it with a trial version too no luck there as well.

Thanks

My settings look like your snapshots up to the point of Step 6. with the circle for the timecode signal.

my right turntable input, (tech1200/maya44USB) isn't even a circle... it's a simple HORIZONTAL line. no circle to be had. it's a flat horizontal line, ONLY. What on earth could be the issue?

I bought the maya44 usb and 2 of your VDJ Virtual Vinyl's to evaluate this prog before considering a purchase, and i gotta tell you, it's been a nightmare to get it to work as you state it should.

I downloaded and installed the version 6.0.6 happy new year edition or whatever, to try it out.

HELP! i would like to make this work, or forget about your product alltogether, as right now, i am ready to tear my hair out and drop kick this into the trash can.

Aaaaarrrrgh!

Wow!!!! Thanks you very much for making that guide. I’ve been having problems for a long time now, I followed your guide and I had it working within seconds after I finished reading the guide. I originally bought 2 Behringer UFO-202 and I couldn't get them to work with my setup. So I sold both of them on ebay and bought a better soundcard, Maya 44. And for the last month or so I’ve been trying to get the Maya 44 to work and I was just thinking about selling it.

Thank you

I would be so thankful if i could have a tutorial just like this one but for Timecode CDs. Any suggestions please ?
Thanks.

Hi

To Which Input Of The Mixer That I Connect The Maya44's Analog Output......?
To Phono Or Line.....?

Where Should Be The Selector Switch Need To Be(Back Of The Mixer)....?
To Phono Or Line.....?

Thanks You.

You connect the Maya outputs to LINE Inputs on your mixer.

The selector is for the input channels of the Maya. If you use CD-Players they should stand on LINE.
If you want to use Turntables they has to be on PHONO. Only a few Turntables has Line outputs instead of Phono outs. Please check your manufacturer references for that first !!!

Thank You Very Much.Diddnt Expect This Much Quick Reply. Thanks Again....!!!!

Hi I've got a big problem, my decks on VDJ are moving by themselves when I have timecodes set up. The needles aren't even on the control vinyl and they are always moving and it is making it nearly impossible to mix. Please help thanks

I even made a video -- http://www.sendspace.com/file/556ah3

Turn up the 'Silence Fader' in the TC configuration a bit until it stops moving. Thats normal because of some vibrations or other signals VDJ think that the TC moved a bit.

Hey,
I followed your guide and everythin worked fine until i tried to play music through the timecodes from vdj. The program picks up the vinyl when no track is loaded in vdj and the spinning decks on the program are spinning. As soon as i try to play music the program does not pick up any sound but the vinyl is spinning and it appears as if nothing is happening in the program. I have numark tt200 turntables with a numark m2 mixer and total control as midi controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of VDJ are you using? Timecode Control is only available in the full Pro version.

AC

I'm bidding on a Maya 44 on ebay so I can connect my 1210's to my MC6000.

I understand the audio connections but have a couple of questions:

1. Think I know the answer already, but I assume I earth the 1210 to the MC6000 and just re-route the audio through the 44.

2. I'm using Int Mix mode so channels 2&3 are set up for Virtual DJ as output 1&2/3&4 respectively in the advance config. Now I know I can add the 44 to the advanced config and can set up decks 3/4 accordingly. However I'm not sure how I would set up the time codes. Is there an advanced more TC setup guide anywhere?

Cheers,

Roy

Ta...

I've followed this guide very closely, plugged and connected everything right, when i go to change the timecode config, on pause the 2 lines under VirtualDJ CD i get 2 lines in the circles with "silence" on both, when i press play on my CDJ600 Gemini's it does nothing, the lines go and it says 1-3% Volume thing where the silence once was. I try every Option there is and none of them work, when i drag a song into my virtual dj, i can make them play with my CDJ600s but when i try scratch they work, but then after the scratch the song goes backwards, nothing else works and im getting really stressed out because i've tried out 4 different soundcards, different options and everything which has taken months!!
Please Help
Tim
