Topic: CUE

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have all my songs cue'd. So when i load a song it goes to the first Q (Cue) point.

I like to 'tap' the Q button several times, as sometimes its right on the beat and makes a good intro. I then hold my finger on Q for several seconds then let go thinking it will continue playing normally but it dosn't. As soon as i let go, the song stops and goes to the begining.

Is there any way to enable this option for the song to keep playing say after 10 seconds or so?

Thanks
Dan

Yeah, press the play button.

What do you mean?

Press play, then press Cue?

If so, thats not what i'm looking for as i can't make a beat, no matter how fast i press Cue, the beat wont go any faster.

On the other hand, are you on about pressing CUE then play at the same time? That way doesn't work.

The way your controller is mapped, holding the cue button will play the song. If you let go, it will go back to the cue point. If you want it to do something else, you will have to map the button differently. However, you may also lose the effect that you like. I, on the other hand, know nothing about mapping, so maybe someone with more knowledge will help you.

what he meant is that you press the play button...instead of the cue since thats the only way for the song to keep playing...what i do i just tap on the cue button the times needed and on my last one [the one i would be lettin the song play] just press play

oh he replied after haha, i dunno if my tip is helpful

What happens if you press the play button, repeatedly? Can't you get the same effect that you want?

This is good, I have done the same thing.

No you cant get the same effect

I'ld have to press play and stop so quick to get the effect.

I'm aware mapping is involve, but i'd need some help with the mapping as i have no idea where to start.

I'll play around with the mapper for the mean time

You could map the cue button to play/stutter (Name may vary), that will give you an effect somewhat like that, or the play button or any other button to stutter, I'm sure you will figure out how to use it.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

iI went to the Mapper -> Hercules -> CUE.....

Then i typed into the "Action Box"
play_stutter

I was going to see what comes up for play but thought this is my best results

Only problem now is, i have to use F1 key to set my 'Hot Cue' point at beginning of track and the CUE button basically plays the first cue.

Thanks All!

EDIT

Plays from LAST CUE. Ie.. If i have 5 CUE's, it will play from CUE #5.

Anyone got any suggestions to get the CUE to play original beat?

EDIT --

I've managed to sus it now.

The play/pause button is "play_Stutter"
The Cue is "CUE"

Thanks All!

The action you are looking for is called cue_play. It does the cue actions and if you hold thebutton for about 500ms it will continue playing the track.

Now that is something useful I didn't know!

I knew there was a reason I read this forum so much :-)

500ms? Is this time adjustable?

Here is the HELP text from the Mapper tab when you assign the Action: cue_play

"if playing, pause and go to the last cue point. if paused, set the current position as cue point, and preview the cue as long as pressed. if you kept pressed more than 2s (or the time specified), it will continue playing once you release. syntax: 'cue_play 1 1000ms'"

Amazing what the software will tell you vs. having to ask here ....

uhm...wondering if you could map the hot cues on the ns7 to do this "hold for so long to let the song play" thing

The cue_play action was designed to answer the exact scenario given here in this thread ... the hot_cue action is just that to goto to a cue point and start playing it immediately - hence - HOT CUE.
