Topic: VDJ 6/RMX/MacBook

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

The Virtual DJ software was highly recommended to me by a good friend who uses it on a laptop running windows XP and a Numark mixer. I've spent the better part of this afternoon researching/reading reviews of dj's who've taken issue (ie. have had major problems while performing) with the very setup I'm considering.

I have a MacBook with 2.4 GHz Intel Duo Core Processor and 2GB of RAM, and am on the fence about purchasing VDJ 6 & the RMX mixer.

Will that setup be sufficient to run the software at live paid gigs at clubs where people are paying to get in (if you catch my drift)?
The 3 minute refresh/reboots that I keep reading about really have me questioning the reliability factor here.

What are any other options with proven dependability should I consider?

As for a little background: I'm a professional DJ with over 20+ years experience. I've been out of the mobile market for a while as I have enjoyed a permanent residence for the past 10 years. Looking to jump back in the mobile market and take advantage of the digital medium instead of lugging CD's & vinyl around! ;o)

Thanks in advance for any advise anyone may have!

will you be doing video or audio.
that is my exact set up at the mo with both mac/pc.
the rmx is a great bit of kit ivebeen using it constantly for over a year now.
once you map the buttons on the rmx(optional) to your likeing your set to go.
just make sure you have the up to date drivers(downloadable) from hercules before set up.
vdj and rmx work excellent together which i stand by from experience.
also on hercules site tips for ypur laoptop to maxamize performance for digital djing works great .http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00364.pdf
set up is simple.....input....none
output.....headphones
soundcard.....rmx(apply eq)(for inputs ie ipods cdplayers ect as back up)and you are good to go.
there are mappers in free download section for you to map buttons1-6 if desired.
as for vdj ive absolutley no complaints and love it dearly as it has made my dj life so easy doing both audio amd karaoke.
and all updates are free(which most of the posts complaining have been sorted in updates)
i was like you sort of afraid to make the change but hell i love it to bits.
hopeyou join the vdj family soon.lads and lassies on here are brilliant for fixes and advice
