Topic: Interested in the NS7..

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey every one, im interested in getting an NS7, but im worried about the min spec as my laptop dosent meet them.

I currently run 2 numnark icdx, 1 DJIO and mix audio./video add clipbank and all runs smooth as butter and my laptop is just below what VDJ recommends for video mixing. Do these specs really matter or its just a scare?

My laptop specs are in the attached. Will i really have problems?

Any help would be appreciated.

The more powerful machine the better for the NS7, however like most harware interfaces it depends on many factors. Just because you have a powerful machine doesn't guarantee it will work 100%. There are a couple of NS7 threads in the hardware forum that may be worth a read.

Ok thanks for the responses! Ill probably wait for this summer im sure a new CTRL will be coming out soon and ill buy a new laptop accordingly.

Sorry, you need more power, at least 2,8ghz dual,4GB, even that is not perfect.
Mine is almost great now, i7(4 core) 3,33ghz., desktop.

even though this is the requirements

Windows Vista, or XP
32-bit: 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 2MB L2 cache; 2GB RAM(Win Vista), 1GB RAM(XP)

We recommend a Core 2 Duo processor of 1.8 GHZ or greater.
2GB ram or better and tweaked it should be ok. Maybe we should go test with your laptop in a guitar center when im over :-)

That work fine with ITCH, but NOT with VDJ!!
I tried over 13 different computers, both MAC and PC.
If you turn the platters off, it,s okey, but problems when using search wheel. VDJ "freeze" and sometimes close down.
VDJ it so much better than ITCH, and with my powerfull desktop computer its almost perfect, both music and videos.
It sometimes still "freeze" when i use the searchwheel, but use the mouse instead.

When you headed back?

I figure I'm going to buy the NS7 anyways... if i need a new laptop, so be it. But it would be nice to work on both lappy's so i have a backup. On the Serato forum for Itch there are NS7 users that claim to have the NS7 working fine on lower powered machines. I guess i'll just have to try.
