Did anyone ever use a basic window shade as a projection screen? I was toying around yesterday with it. I bought two cheapies from Walmart. One was light-filtering and the other was room-darkening. The light-filtering worked great with rear and front projection. I used white. I want to go buy a 5 footer this week and am debating whether to get a off-white or a white. I'm thinking of having one on each side of me (two 5ft screens). I have two decent speaker stands which I hardly ever use and thought of hanging one on each one, with an arm of about 3ft sticking out. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd like to see a photo when you're done, I was just working on a schematic for a 60"x72" screen out off spandex and pvc tubing to hang on wall or ceiling.

I'm hoping to get to a home depot or some kinda of place that will have decent 60" shades in stock this week. The nicer ones don't wrinkle. I thought of the spandex also but don't want a truss and all that stuff. Shades roll up and can be put right back in the plastic covering that came with it to help keep clean. The better ones can also be lightly cleaned. I'm debating over buying an off white or a white. I think I'll go for the white. I'm even thinking of some kind of swag curtain to lay across the top to cover the shade assembly and let it hand down the sides (maybe lightly clamped) to give it a nice look.

OK DJ Docz sounds like you're the man on a mission and it might be a nifty way to go, post some photos I may go that rout too.

I make mine out of window screen frame and spandex.. they weigh like 1 1.2 lbs, and can be as large as 8x8.
I did the window shades a few years ago... they do work well, and are very cheap... the vinyl ones are also washable..
I like the spandex now though because the frame for the spandex costs less than $10 for a complete frame, looks awesome, and is extremely durable.. and if you don't have a trailer, van, or truck, you can simply take the 2 sides off, and roll it up for next time.
There are so many cheap and easy screen options now, that any number of them will work for you.

The facade is comprised of 36x48 screens...
they\'re interchangeable as screens, or as facade panels....

Does anyone have the P2 Pico Projector in use now, I'd like to know if it's a good buy for small club gig's.
Thanks

Keep in mind you will not be able to use the screen as a rear projection with 1 speaker stand. You'll end up with a nice shadow in the middle of the screen. You can use 2 speaker stands with a crossbar between. Your speaker stands better be really high to get the screen up enough so everybody can see the picture.
I use a truss that collapses into a nice bag. Front projection...I'll hook the screen to the top cross pole to get the screen up 10 inches higher. Rear projection with the spandex ( it can't be in front of the cross member or I'll get the shadow) it hangs of the bottom crossmember.
Good luck

actually jimmy if you use a speaker stand and use a top hat base then attach your frame to that it will be fine.
