Hi mate
Sounds like the drive for shure. If you can get it to run at home, now would be the time for a clone/backup before it fails all together.
Stangely I have had this happen and when I re-formatted the drive it worked fine. Still bined the drive because I could not trust it.

You should copy all your data on other disk then run a tool for test, which depends on brand of hard drive you are using, usually you can find this tool on manufacturer site. If the tool says it is failing than do a low level format, if it pass it will work but if not, it's dead ;)

thought so guys and after reading previous i have it backed up 3 times lol.so how do i format and what will that actually do.went down when a bad singer was on so wasnt a hassle lol

That depends what brand of hard drive do you have, which one is it? I think only Toshiba does not have tool for low level formating and testing but I use old Maxtor tool with the success. The tool is free, so I might upload it for you, it is quite small.
It will erase entire drive with zeros and will read back to check if it is written ok, if it is not then the drive is going to die or has some bad sectors that cannot be recovered. That kind of drive can still be used by allocating bad sectors to not be used anymore, but I rather not as it has tendency to spread ;)

Man, reading your posts are like reading abbreviated texts messages from someone in a real hurry :-)
Don't mean to offend, but I find your posts real hard to read and understand...it's hard work...honestly...
No offence buddy, but slow down, take a deep breath, and type full sentences, with some punctuation...
Like I said, I'm not trying to offend, simply trying to make my life easier...please...for me...take pity on me... :-)
Thanks mate ;-)

lol hey igma.just dont get to much time with the kids and herself wanting the net.was just trying to find out what happened at my gig last week screens went blank and music cut,but ipod played through rmx..my windows then scanned and found bad clusters.since then ive took music off left mp3 karaokes on.i then cleaned up hd and tested it last night for 3 hours(automix & clipbank laptop only)and all seemed fine

If there are bad clusters I would do a low level format. If there are still bad ones I would not use that hd on my gig, too risky.

You will loose files with any kind of format!!!
Do you have a backup drive? If not, now would be a good time to get one.
I tend to buy my drives in pairs. That way I know the power supply and USB leads are identical. If I get a problem, all I need to swap is the drive.
If I were you, I wold buy a pair of new drives, transfer the contents of your existing drives to these. Then low-level format your other drive and use it as a backup.
Cheers,
Roy

Absolutely....a format will destroy everything on your drive. So, make sure you've got a good backup of the drives contents before you start.
Good luck, mate!
