Topic: VDJ is noting seeing my XML file

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I recently had to reinstall VDJ after formatting my hard drive and for some reason VDJ is not seeing the XML file I have that contains all my song information [bpms, etc] .

I have installed the xml to c:\program files\VirtualDJ which, I believe, is the correct folder?

Being that I already have an xml - is there some way I can get VDJ to look at this xml so i dont have re-scan all my songs again?

I gather that you did copy the database file, before you re-formatted? Is your music on the same drive as the program or on a separate drive? Does VDJ see your music, but not the info?

I made a backup of the database file to an external drive before i re-formatted the drive.

I copied in xml from the external to the laptop hard drive and its seeing the music but not the file information. all my bpms are gone.

Try this if your music is on an external drive:

Add your Harddisc to the Database.

Close VDJ.

Replace the generated DB with your backup.

Elsewhere you can take a look into the XML Database with a texteditor like PSPad.
Check your filepath to your songs - is it correct ? If not, try to replace it with 'search & replace' of the editor to the correct values.

Config>browser>search database> click add automatically. In the next window down database, you should see your drive, click fix.
