Hi, where do you guys have your Master volume set at? I usually have mine maxed out, but with the channels at around 8.

I've heard that its not best to have the master volume maxed, but set in the middle with the channel faders maxed instead.

on mixer master and channels on a scale of ten > 7- 8, amp 6-7, if you are maxing out like that you will cause distortion and damage, time for re investment me thinks...

these settings have worked for me for the last thousand years but it will depend on how much you need to push your gear to be heard.

Depends on so many things, if your maxed then your amps arn't high enough or there not powerful enough

always have your amp up full then control sound from mixer.if not enough sound for you new speakers or bigger amp req mate, let the amp and speakers do the work.

I never run at max for many reasons, but mainly to protect my equipment (amp & speakers)

This also implies that your system either isn't poweful enough (having to hve it set to max) or you simply blast everyones eardrums out from the moment you start playing ;-)

Also, you have no room for manouvre. You have to consider the ambience of a room. An empty venue will not need to be so loud and from experience I know that if the music is too loud in an empty venue people walk in and then walk out... (not my idea to have the music too loud BTW, the owners!!!!)

Once the venue starts to fill up and the ambient noise gets louder you can start to crank it up. Plus once people have a few drinks inside them and want to start to dance you can crank it up further ;-)

I'm not saying I start playing at background music levels mind you ... lol

I also think its good to hold something back. If there is that extra busy night or a particular track or style of music that gets people movng you can wind it up just a bit more if needed...

aNYway, that's how I do it.

You never run an amp at full crank because it will clip and when it does it's doing your speakers in, I like to run my amp xti4000 at 75% and no more although it is a bit under powered been digital (forget about what the spec's say) 650w p/c @ 8, i find you need about 750 so that you can run comfortably 75%
