Topic: Found my setup.. What do you think?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I found a setup that is suitable for me (I think)...

First of all, I love virtual DJ and will NOT change to Serato or Cue or anything else. VDJ was my first so I'm sticking with it.

I plan to DJ and eventually do some video. I mainly mix but I would like to get into scratching. I will also do mixtapes for friends. Maybe scratch and mix on some of my beats and original music (I also produce).. My main focus for now is bedroom and party DJ. I want to learn as much as possible before I attempt to get into a bar. I have done some small paying jobs with CD players and a crossfader lol so I'm not a complete noob...

The setup is a pair of Numark iCDX CD players and a 3 channel Numark Mixer (DMX3000???). I'm pretty sure this mixer is not USB compatible.

Like I said, I want to run VDJ.

First, how do I set this up? I'm not sure how the mixer is added into the configuration. I know the icdx's are usb compatible and that time code is not nessecary.

Second, I know these are a bit out of date but would they do the job for me? I'm able to trade off a HD movie projector that I paid $399+$100 cash for this complete DJ setup. Let me know what you think about this deal.

Thanks I'm sure I'll have many more questions..

bump... can't find any helpp in the searches.

iCDX might not cut it for you if you want to scratch seriously, and do a scratching/hiphop style.

iCDX does NOT have touchsensitive jogweels (like a vinyl has, meaning if you put your fingers on the platter, the song stops)... '

If you want a more real vinyl feel, and better scratching abilities, you need touchsensitive platters...

Alternatives :

- Pioneer CDJ 400
- Pioneer CDJ 900 (or 2000, but expensive.. )
- Denon 3700s
etc

Or a midi controller with such jogwheels (touchsensitive)
- Vestax VCI-300
- Vestax VCI-100
- Eks XP-10
- Numark NS7

or lastly .. you could get traditional analogue gear, and use timecode cd or timecode vinyl to control VDJ.
- turntable with direct drive
- Pioneer CDJ-800 (or 1000.. but expensive)
- Denon decks (several)

hope that helps ;)

No back spin(weird for beat juggling)
I dont think I it has a sound card. IDK
Good for starters and non-Scratch Djs

You are too kind and polite. I know that you really want to say that the iCDX SUCKS for scratching.

I'm sorry. I still have a few rough edges.

Seriously...The iDCX is not a bad piece of equipment but as dj-in-norway said, You may want to seriously consider the pioneer 400's or any of the other recomendations that my friend dj-in-norway has made.
