I would like to upgrade to 5.2.1 from 4.3 on my Dell Laptop that uses an ext. hard drive 500 GB with all my songs and videos in 11 or 12 different folders. I also want to keep 4.3 available for use too. I have done this before and was told to rename and copy the old 4.3 database into the HD after I turn on 5.2 for the first time. This worked okay. The same HD now has a root vdj5xml database and comes up as D:\ when I plug in the HD into the present lappy that uses 5.2.1.
What precisely do I need to do "Step-by-Step" to update a 4.3 laptop to 5.2.1, and use the same HD with it after the install and also have 4.3 available for use w/o any conflicts?

The thing is the upgrade to 5.2 will make you have to rescan all your tracks as there is a new BPM engine in 5.XX.

But what about the HD that has a v5 database in it's root directory? Doesn't that contain all the bpm info?
I'm really concerned about keeping the ver 4.3 exe useable as a backup resource after the upgrade? How do I do that?
