All my video files are in VOB. I want to edit the file information to include more than just the Artist and Title (I also want the Year, Album Title, and Genre). I want to permanently add this information, hence I don't want to use Virtual DJ's File Info option. For my mp3's I currently use the software Tag&Rename, but it does not work for VOB's. Does such a software exist? I've searched the internet with no luck!
What are my options, if any, without converting my VOB files.
Thanks

Why do you have them as VOBs? Those are HUGE!!!

With TAG And RENAME you could do this "crazy process"...
Duplicate all your "VOB" files to another drive if possible or another folder on the same drive if you have enough room.
Then change all those "VOB" files' extentions on the other drive to "MPEGS" and then open all these "MPEGS" on that other drive within TAG And RENAME.
TAG And RENAME will now see the files.
You can then label all the various tag information you want and once you get that all done have TAG And RENAME actually export and rename the file names to include all of those tag's information, etc...
Then simply rename all of those "MPEGS" on that other drive back to "VOBS", etc...
File names should now look something like this:
ARTIST - Song Title [MIX] - YEAR - BPM
But then after doing this when opening those "VOB" files within VDJ you'll sadly have to re-lable everything for the VDJ database, etc... :(
Also when doing the "tagging thing" with TAG And RENAME use the "ALBUM TAG" or one of the other tag fields for "KEYS" or anything else you wish to include, etc...
VDJ really needs a program to properly label all the information for VOB type files, etc...
Or needs to add a "user's choice" when it comes to "VOB" files on what the user wants displayed into their VDJ database, instead of just the ARTIST - Title format, etc...
Good Luck,
DJ TAO :)

Just to add to that "crazy process"...
Within the TAG N RENAME, Export your File Naming so it would look like this which is the way the VDJ DATABASE FILE INFO is shown:
ARTIST - Song Title [MIX] - ALBUM - YEAR - GENRE - BPM - KEY - COMMENT
Or maybe even like this so that VDJ will simply import it and then you'll just have to do that "edit process" via the VDJ DATABASE, etc...
ARTIST - Song Tilte [MIX] [ALBUM] [YEAR] [GENRE] [BPM] [KEY] [COMMENT]
It is a lot of work but it might work, etc...
???
Good Luck,

I still use vobs because I just wanted to get all my DVD's ripped. I will convert later to a compressed format. Anyways I have found a tool for renameing file in mass amounts that may be helpful to you. I will allow you rename the extension too. Read the help/turtorial and you find this software to be amazing.

All you can do as far as "tagging" is just to use dashes - and virtual DJ can decifer the name. Thats what I did. I also use file folders to act as a label for the Album or DVD the were ripped from. Also create folders to sort your collection by year. ie 2008, 2009, 1980's this will help you sort them out without the use of tags.
Hope this will help

I tried to add dashes, but this changes nothing. Is there a specific way that VDJ reads files???
Posted Thu 08 Jan 09 @ 7:12 pm
i find that if you right click on the travk and go into properties you can change things lik track title year and artist but dont mess wit the thing on top that ends in vob it will never play again and youll have to stat all over this is the best way that i have found so far

For video VDJ does not read tags for ANY format (I have no idea why and when I ask I all I get is ..."they are considering it for a future update". The only thing you can do for video is seperate them with dashes and you will get "The Artist" in the artist column and then EVRYTHING else after the first dash in the "Title" column and then after scanning the file vdj will put it's bpm and key scan in the "bpm" and "key" column....that's the best they got at this point.
By the way you can drag and drop the files from tag & raname if you want to use that for your browser!
