Hey guys im running a mobile dj gig out of my house and do parties for freinds and local schools etc. I have a Laptop using virtual dj and up to know just plug my speakers (gemini GPA 3000) and 2 berhinger b212's. Now however, ive been learning how to mix vinyls very well and want to upgrade using timecoded vinyls. I was thinking about the Numark TTX turntable, looks great and very cheap. What else would i need besides that turntable? Could i use just one or would i need two? In addition how well does the whole timecoded thing work? is it worth it or not?
Sorry for the newbie questions i am new to this whole thing! Thanks!

Besides that turntable you need
-timecoded vinyls
-a sound card with 4 in and 4 out (2 stereo in 2 stereo out)
-legal copy of Virtual DJ
-good needles, cables and so on....
If you prefer just using one turntable you can do this as well. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not :)
Good luck, hope to see you as a full member soon!

No, you need the VirtualDJ timecode vinyl's (which you can order from the site) or Numark timecode vinyl's. Also in the Pro version (5.2.1) Serato timecoded vinyls are supported by the noisemap engine we have to.

If you want to go down the timecode route, you will need a usb external soundcard with 4 inputs and 4 outputs, for example the ESI Maya44, also a legit copy of the Pro version of VirtualDJ ;)

well said Jimmy, you can use any soundcard but it has to be a ASIO soundcard for low latency the MAYA44 is a cheap but very good soundcard and as for the TTX personally id go for the TT500 as it has more torqu and is cheaper and if your going to buy the MAYA44 USB or equalivent then you dont need the USB stuff!

I have a similar question. I was able to pick up the full package setup of Stanton final scratch 2 for a couple hundred bucks. Will I be able to use this interface and vinyl with virtual dj?

Yes the interface works perfect.
I'm using it for about one year now. Really good interface, especially the fact that the scratch amp uses fire-wire instead of usb.
In former times i hab usb dropouts wich my old soundcard (maya, connective). But this damn fire-wire thing works awesome!!!
Enjoy it.....

as long as you have a timecode then yes. just connect the TT to the RMX via a phono cabe and set it up in the vdj config. xlap a timecode on top and away you go.

i just got a Behringer VMX1000USB. Can I plug my turntables into it with VDJ timecode vinyls and manipulate my mp3s that way? Will this mixer work as a midi controller? Previously used all in one deck's like the RMX and numark mixdeck pro. Want to move to vinyl.

or would i need to add an external sound card between the mixer and laptop even though the mixer has a USB?

well i looked on the behringer website, store dj, dj city, and some other review... none had the answer you are looking for, from what I read it looks like the mixer wont control midi as there was no mention of it in the marketing material, The other thing is the usb soundcard, all it said was "Built-in USB interface for recording and playback of any digital music file. Works with your PC or Mac computer-no setup or drivers required." I am going to assume that this mixer has the same soundcard as their smaller mixers so It probably only has 2 ins and 2 outs.
if you really wanted to you could run one timecode vinyl but have the 2 decks output as mono using the advanced audio config, but you really need to check your mixer or better yet your manual to know if it is capable of running a timecode set up. For this you need at least 4 ins and 4 outs. If your mixer doesn't have enough ins and outs, you could just get an external soundcard... maya44 if your on a budget, audio 4 if your not.
Good luck

thanks man. i was searching all night last night and couldn't find the answer. I believe it would need an external sound card because (like you said) the built in one does not have enough channels.
fyi. I did find a video of a guy on you tube that was using an rmx as his sound card with turntable and an external mixer. (no midi control) it would probably work that way, but not sure why i wouldn't just go ahead and use the rmx as the mixer in that case.

can't really answer that one, you can definitely use a rmx as both a soundcard and a midi mixer for inputing timecodes, but I cant comment on the quality or the units knobs and faders, which for me would be the most important consideration for the setup.
