thanks for the reply,
so lets say i accidently let one side of the 2 channels run the entire 12 minutes, vdj will continue to play the track, but then even after i reload the 12 minute timecode mp3, i still lose all connectivity with that particular channel. are there any methods besides rebooting vdj to gain connectivity again?
thanks,
jack

I recorded the timecode back to back on a disc which gives me 12min x 2. That way if I look at my track readout and it say track 2 I know I've let it run too long, so I just get it back to track 1 on next song load. I don't notice any hop, skip or jump when it goes from track 1 to track 2. I do lose control of the track from bout 10secs from the end of track 1 tho. For those with a cdj, it's when the track readout starts flashing. In this instance I just press next track on cdj to go to track 2 and I find I have control again instantly. When track 2 finishes I have to stop start on the cdj to gain control again. I've often wondered if I burnt 4 timecodes back to back whether I would encounter any issues. (hope that makes sense, just finished 12hr shift, brain mush).
My set up is 1 x Cdj 100mk3 / DJM 800 mixer / M-Audio Delta 44 soundcard / 1 x M-Audio Midisport 2x2 USB midi box / 1 x Shuttle pc. AMD athlon 64x2 dual 4200+, 2gb Geil ram, ASUS m2npv-vm, Virtual DJ 5.1 Pro. Timecode in relative mode.

12 minutes alone is more than enough.. On the cdjs, you loop the time codes. You change the settings inside virtual dj, Virtual vinyl. " one thing i dont like about virtual vinyl, Virtual dj is that, you have to go into the settings to change it from smart mode to what ever you want. On serato, those options are on the skin on front of you. You have to cue your songs if you going to loop the time code signal. The cue im talking about is the Cue from the 1 thru 5 cues marked on each of your songs..

i made some midi commands via the djm800 for set_cue and goto_cue, which solved a few of the minor issues i was dealing with. i also think ive figured out why i was losing connectivity, i had my cdjs set with autocue, i shut that off on each player, using relative mode and i can see i have more control now, without the loss of connectivity. im wondering if i plugged my control wires in from the cdjs to the djm800 if i could set midi commands to loop in and out and adjust loop and reloop using the cdjs...has anyone tried this before? also would it possibly work with the cue button on the cdj if i told it to goto_cue when i hit the cue button? also what is the command to show the name of the track playing (you know the yellow banner on the bottom of the screen that shows the name of the track playing?..id like to set a midi command for that as well) thanks everyone!

Good questions. I'm looking for those answers as well.
I was searching this thread for this answer though:
I Just bought a CDJ 800 MK2 on the recommendation of the VDJ reps @ the DJ Times expo in Atlantic City this week and am playing around with it. One thing I just can't seem to figure out is, when the song ends, it keeps playing in VDJ now. When it passes the end, the timer keeps counting (in VDJ) with a negative number. And I can't seem to get the CDJ to control it anymore. I have to press cue, then play in VDJ before I can regain control.
Is that the same thing asked above? I've been reading up on smart vs. relative etc. but haven't quite got it yet. Is that where my answer is?
Thanks...
