Topic: Video only plays for 30 seconds - Page: 2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have a question of when you rip your vob files do you test the file first to make sure things are as it should. If you do and VDJ is still playing 30 seconds of random videos after the initial "testing". Just trying to get a grasp of your process.

or are ripping the videos testing them in another player and assuming things are correct then when its time to play the file you place it in the deck only to discover 30 second play.

Try this, just rename the ending of the file from .vob to .mpg and try it.

fatkatzdj - I do the second part. I rip them. I go to play them in VDJ and some are messed up. Out of a night I may come across 3 or 4. Later the next day, I check them with another player and they work fine. I go back to VDJ and re-analyze them and it usually fixes them. It's the way VDJ is reading its own files. I just started re-analyzing them while I'm playing. The problem is the one that slips by. Dead air space...not good!

discobrian24 - I'll try that on the next one I find.

Cool man let me know. I still am thinking codec issue, but dont know.

The VDJ Ripper is not all it's cracked up to be. I ripped the same video 3x with 1 success. Sometimes the video was spotty or the sound was distorted. I had one successful rip.

I did the same testing with the same video with DVD Decrypter and it came out perfect every time.

hi i have just bout vital dj 7.4 i put my hard drive
in but when i try and play songs they only play 30 second s of a song y

If you try and play songs that are not in your own collection (on your computer hard drive), then they only play for 30s because it's a preview from the internet (like listening on iTunes before you buy).

The idea is for you to load your own track library into VDJ and play those.

Has anyone suggested changing the codec vdj uses. I'm in the middle of a karaoke show, so I just skimmed the thread.

The original thread is from 2008 and is over 5 years old, so the user has more than likely found a solution to their problem by now.

@colin2368: By default, if no matching results are found in your local VirtualDJ database, then VirtualDJ will search our on-line ContentUnlimited subscription service. These results are distinguished with a globe icon. If you do not have an active subscription to ContentUnlimited, then you will be limited to 30 second previews only.

To add music from your own collection to your VirtualDJ database so that it's found when searching, please see our FAQ pages: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Add%20to%20search%20DB.htm
