Topic: VDJ freezing with BCD3000 connected [driver problem as usual] - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Here I'm again.

So, in my last post I was using Vista with my new BCD 3000, after so many problems with it, I decide to format my Dell XPS 1330 and install XP Pro on it.

If I connect the BCD 3000, VDJ will freezes after I start my set, sometimes play 3 songs and some times can go up to 7 songs, when i try to close VDJ, it ask me if i want to really close, because the music still playing(It's not...)

Last Saturday the club was pack by 8:30 and guess what happen...lmfao...

So what can I do? please help me, because I'm addictive to VDJ and for the past 2 weekends I had to play my set just using the VDJ without the BCD 3000 and I can cue the songs right.

I have the latest Mappers.

Finally I solved the problem.

According to Beringher, I have to disable the battery controller and the power management for each USB hub.

I tried and I did a full 5 hours set with no problem, I even could stay connected to the wireless Internet.

What I learned from Atomix?

Your support team sucks, there is no phone # or a real email where we can get a real help, we have to wait for a good soul to come out of the shadow and give us a help, it's is very bad for suck a great software as VDJ is and you guys just want our money.

What you mean?

Its BEHRINGER that makes the controller, and NOT Virtual DJ ;)

All we know about the controller, from experience (both 2000 and 3000) is that is poorly made, and super sensitive to computer IRQs and settings.

But glad Behringer could help you on the 3000, that USB management turned off helps
Will keep that tip in mind, in case other asks

Please don't take me wrong, I love VDJ and I will fight till the end to make it work, I always trust atomix , since atomix DJ , but technical support is the must important atthe end of the sales point, so you won't loose the client, I know what I'm talking about because I work for the must amazing IT company in Canada and the leader on onsite providersfrom Monday to Friday and Dj on weekends.

So, let me share with my fellas djs what I did to make it work.

here is the instructions. Open device manager and under batteries disable Microsoft ACPI-Compliant control method battery Then go down to the list to Universal serial bus controllers right click on USB Root Hub and choose properties. Under power management , uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" Do this with each USB root HUB that you have in your laptop or desktop. This problem happens more with laptops, I have a Dell XPS 1330 and it has 7 USB root hubs

I have the same problem with the program freezing after a few minutes. I thought the problem was with the Asio settings.

Follow the instructions that I post in the top and it should work with no problem, I test it in 4 different laptops and please, buy the software.

P.s, I'm getting ready for the new hercules, I saw it at the Namm and I love it.

We just bought the BCD3000, but still have the option to take it back it we need to. We like the controls and have figured our way past most issues...except the mic thing. Does the mic work yet? If so, how? We have read most of the posts on this and kept reading about the WMD mode but we don't know what this means. If the mic can work, could someone please explain in detail how to get it working.

If not we'll have to try the Herc, although we don't like how small it is. What's the story with the new one coming out, and when? Is there somewhere I can read about it? Thanks.

The Mic doesn't work at all and I give up on it, I use my denon mixer.
The new Hercules is coming up in the mid March and you can get more info here http://www.hercules.com/

I have an Acer Aspire 9410 laptop and still have the freezing-problem after 1 minute or so, even after disabling the control method battery and USB-power option.
The only option for me that really works is to turn off my internet-connection but then i'm not able to download cd-covers etc.

Is there anybody out there who has the BCD3000 work together with VDJ + internet connection?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks to the help. Finally i have solved the problem after days. I almost throw the bcd ayay.

Really thanks.

how do i turn off the power managment on the USBs?

make sure you guys are using a dynamic mic for the mic input on the bcd 3K

one thing to keep in mind where you first pluging the bcd3000 be show to always put it in this usb hole all the time.any one having problem with the bcd3000 in vista i can help make show you got the newest asio4all not the beta! and the mic do work it don't work in VDJ but with orther dj software it works wonderfull.and Elvos2007 what's the info on your pc so i can help you and what os you useing?

DJ PHIL IT, Thanks for trying to help me out!

This is my configuration:
Intel T2080 @ 1,73 GHz
2046 MB RAM
Windows Vista Premium
VDJ 5.07
BCD3000 with Mapper 3.3
ASIO4ALL 2.8 Final

When choosing ASIO4ALL v2 in VDJ's sound setup I get this message:

"Error in the ASIO sound driver: Not enough channels"

In that case VDJ switches back to sound without headphone pre-listen option.
Trying to switch off the onboard Realtek soundcard didn't solve the problem.

In the WDM Device List of ASIO4ALL config is Behringer BCD3000WDM V.1.1.2.0 running.
In advanced mode are also running:
In: 2x 44.1kHz. 16Bits
Out: 2x 44.1kHz. 16Bits

When switching back to BCD3000 ASIO the headphone pre-listen option works again but the freezing problem is back.

Hi Guys,

I'm just trying the VDJ. I used the DJConsole version so far, and I like the straight forward UI but it does not seem to work with the BCD 2000. I have the same troubles (sound freezing after a while, but the VDJ seems to play). But on top of it, after trying out the Traktor DJ studio, now I have to press every button twice on the BCD. Any suggestions on that? It work OK in the BDJ software and also in Cubase I can see that the MIDI signal is send every time I press the button, only VDJ reacts only on every second time. Did I change a setting in the configuration that I don't find anymore...???

I will try the setting you recommend but how about the suspend mode then. Probably< supend to disk want work anymore, right?

Thanks in advance

Rish

Go to Berigher website and download the new USB controller drivers, they did sometging on the drivers, finally.

New USB drivers from Behringer for BCD3000 = stop freezing?!

You are right about the support. I spent all this money on the RMX and VDJ pro software and i can't play 2 songs at a party. I ask for help a week ago and no one replied. There is no number to call, nothing. I have a party for my son this weekend, 25 guests and thinking maybe i should just play my ipod.

My problem is, I bought a laptop dedicated to VDJ pro and my RMX console. It's only for my music, no other bullshit on there. yet i'm doing a party and after playing 3 songs, the entire machine freezes up and i have to reboot during the party.

I have P4 2.3GHZ processor 2 GB memory, i turned off all power management, etc.

All i need , is a guide to follow to see if i have the laptop configured right and no one call respond to my support ticket.

I think if you check your tickets you will find that you were answered 10 hrs after your post not a week.
In that ticket there is no mention of a bcd controller, just that your system freezes up.

As I explained, freezing is caused by many things.
Maybe after you read the reply things will improve for you.

Hi All
Sorry to revive this old thread but I have some tips for BCD2000/3000 and VDJ users.

1. When you install the BCD2000/3000 driver remember which port you use. VDJ only see's the BCD unit from the first port you plug into.
To see this effect goto sound control panel and you will see BCD2000/3000 WDM, plug into a different port, install you drivers and go back to sound control panel and the driver name will be listed as 2- BCD3000WDM (not in device manager it self but sound control only) , so VDJ wont work as the driver name now has 2- before it. I have tried to figure out why this is and how to change but failed so far.

2. Headphone/CUE port. The sound from this port has it's high frequencies attenuated so i installed ASIO4All and configure VDJ to use the ASIO4all (remember to run the control panel for ASIO from within the program and activate BCD2000/3000 or it will warn you not enough channels). From there you use the laptops internal sound card as headphones and the BCD2000/3000 as Main Air output.

3. decrease the sensitivity of jog dials, i have found heavy bass beats can introduce triggers or movements into the BCD units and so it adjust your pitch a little making your tracks go out of beat sink. although as you get better you will notice this and adjust automatically.

4. Vista owners goto the Behringer site and get the Vista drivers.

5. Pay/Register for your VDJ products and you access to maxmora's excellent mapper which may seem confusing at first but a little practice you can eliminate the need for your keyboard completely.

6. If you have vista computer consider a dual vista/xp setup. I have a partition with xp installed and only VDJ installed. I have found that i dont have any problems in this clean setup. I also have not disabled anything like battery options, usb standby power, wifi (in fact i often surf the net for song requests while working) , xp users can also go this route and have a xp/xp setup with one being clean for VDJ (remember to install your drivers for IDE/SATA, video and sound to use all the VDJ features)

7. VDJ stores it's settings in three places, Main software settings (config panel, remote control etc) is stored in the registry under
MyComputer\HKEY_USERS\{GUID 4 Ur setup\Software\VirtualDj
I have exported these setting into defferent reg files, one for using BCD in ASIO mode, One for through ASIO4ALL and one for WDM mode. Before i load VDJ i dble click my exported and altered reg file which loads it into the registry , i then load VDJ. (you can load this section into reg edit and export it, close regedit then load VDJ, change your settings, save and close VDJ, load regedit again to the same point, export your new settings with diff file name and bingo , quick easy multi config)

the other location is HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\VirtualDJ
this location tells VDJ where your main files are, plugins, saved midi setups etc.
I have changed my vista settings here to point to my XP location, saves space and allows me to have one location for all the files.
Final location is your my Documents\VirtualDJ folder. Here you will find the rest of VDJ files and settings (for example save midi command setups)

A lot of you will have had the problem listed on item one, When i figure out how to stop windows from adding this instance number to sound devices I will post here. I have also emailed Behringer about this but no support so far, It's not really either Behringers or Atomix fault it's the way the device is access in it's native midi mode(throught sound devices rather than directly to the device itself) . For example if you dont need all the lights and maxmora's mapper you can configure VDj to use the BCD unit as a midi device and it does not matter which port it's plugged into. Same goes with the audio side. Also Behringer have not answered my why the headphone port has it's high's cut, i only hear bass in mine(the main part i am listening for when dj'ing but i sometimes would like to hear the words for sound clips/samples)

Well I hope this is of help to BCD users, Nice cheap product but the support is stale. I will upgrade when funds allow to a numark or similar product as Behringers products are not what I would call quality all the time.
Sorry for any error's folks
