microsoft gave up on their joint venture with Napster.
Now MTV gave up on microsoft with Urge and is gonna give it a try with Real Network's Rhapsody.
ALL of this is because none of them (even combined) can come close to Apple's iTunes.
Anyone remember BuyMusic.com and their 40 million dollar campaign to inevitably conquer iTunes, because as their CEO Scott Blum (the bum) said, "Apple CEO Steve Jobs "(is) a visionary, but he's on the wrong platform."?
I thought not - http://slashdot.org/articles/03/07/22/1641216.shtml
Wrong platform?! LOL!!! =P

P.S.
Real Network's CEO Rob Glasser is a @%$!
RealNetworks' online petition backfires

Hoping to get a little people power on their side in their battle to try and get Apple to open up the iPod to downloads from their online music stores, RealNetworks launched a "Hey Apple, Don't Break My iPod" online petition which quickly turned against them and filled up with such witty anti-Real chestnuts as, "REAL CRAP. rob you are a loser!" and "If you guys dare to touch my iPod!! Oh Boy…! Im so going to rip out your…". They ended up removing the link from their site and putting up another one which only lists people's names and nothing else.

i just dont get the ipod thing. i've used my daughters ipod twice while she was visiting, and dont see the big deal. i bought a small mp3 player for less than $20 (www.woot.com) and it sounds better, has better battery life, plays whatever i put in it, came with built-in fm tuner w/station presets and a voice recorder, and isnt trendy enough for someone to steal and take to a pawn shop - her's is her second, the other one was stolen.
ipod, iphone, icar, ithis ithat... blah. too much.

I don't get the whole i thing either, but don't have to. To each his own. I use Rhapsody now, and with my broadband from my phone, I have been able to grab any request, as I say, from out of the clouds. Had to grab "Autumn Leaves" last week for the guest of honors 80th birthday. It came back with 666 versions. We also just got broadband in the club last week, so I am testing to see which is the fastest. Hey, what ever works for you.

Ipod / Itunes is a monster not because it's the best. Its a monster beacuse it's a cult. People dont buy it for the quality they buy it for bragging rights... which is why i'm sitting here with my $400 Itouch instead of buying a Sub-Woofer : (

Damn, I can itouch myself, for free. For $400.00, I can have 4 of my dancers(they have all their teeth too) itouch me at the same time, while talking on my Q. I would have bought the sub.

I use itunes for downloading videos.
Until another drm-free option comes along it's quick and easy to get videos from.
I have an iPod and don't see the big deal about them either. It's a nifty little unit, but I don't know if it was worth the $300.00 I paid for it.
I guess the Biggest Problem I have isn't the service or the iPod itself - It's the Freaking DRM Apple is forced to embed in they're files.
