Hi guys - after reading this post http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/76924/General_Discussion/Good_Video_Download_sources_yet_.html it seems there arent many 'legal' sources for music videos , or am i mistaken ? So... IF there was a site offering music videos to download for vj use , what would your prefered formats and resolution be ?

divx/.avi 720x480 with full pcm 44100 sound and as little compression as possible, with todays broadband speeds a 100-150 meg files doesn't take that long to download. If they do need to compress anything compress the audio to 192kb mp4 and leave the video as uncompressed as possible.
In my opinion in a club environment (especially with large flats sreens and projectors) it is MUCH easier to see video compression than it is to hear audio compression.............audio is just easier to do, they have been at it a lot longer so they have it down better and most clubs accoustics are so bad no one can tell the difference anyway.

some will disagree but a divx or xvid file will play easier with less strain on the pc compared to a mpeg...even though it has to decompress it. don't make sense to me but I've tries it plenty of times.
Also a well converted divx file looks nice on a huge screen. I convert them @ 2000kbps cbr;320mp3; 620x480 (u can do 720x480 but it doesn't do it.....it just shows black where the 720 lies)

i like divx :) if the resolustion is setup good when it was converted :)
the rate 2000kbps cbr;320mp3; 620x480 looks real good on all screensizes and sounds excellent with low cpu strain ;)
