Does VDJ support playing these video files? I had read a previous post where I was led to believe that if your PC could play these files through Windows Media Player and you set the codecs for these extensions to use the Media Player instead of Video Codec that it would work. I can't get it to work with either V4 or V5. The files are seen by VDJ but when I load them I get an error message. When I right click on the files and look at File Info, I get a message that says there is an error trying lto load the file with the Windows Media Player Codec. I have tried the Video Codec also.
I have no probs with MPG1, MPG2, and DIVX files.
Anyone else out there successfully using these files. What else do I need to do to get this to work?

Not .mov - they require a QuickTime Video Decoder
But .avi - Yes, with the appropriate codec loaded on the machine. Some .avi files can be played using Virtual DJ's own Video Decoder

Hey cstoll,
Do you mean mov if I use a/the Quicktime video decoder?
I tried both the Apple one and one of the clones and with both I could play the quicktime videos using Windows Media Player but not VDJ.
I can't get AVIs to work with either codec stting in VDJ. Do you know which external codec I need to load. I can p[lay the AVIs with Windows Media Player but not VDJ. I noticed you said some. I am guessing if there is a wrong type that is what I have. Anyway to tell if mine are the right or wrong type and then is there a way to convert?
These PCs have the stock Windows codecs plus the NVidia PureVideo decoder and the KLite Codec Pack.
Any suggestions? What do the clips in V5 need to be? Most of my clips are mov or avi. For clips we have been using a Numark nuVJ (Arkaos) or Visual Jockey. Those two products like mov or avi best.

VDJ does not have a QuickTime video decoder and you can't just install one. VDJ has to have hooks built in order to use them. Like it does for the Windows Media Player. So, no support for QuickTime .MOV files.
But lets talk about your AVI files. Do you know what codecs they are encoded with ?
And, I will be honest - I have never liked the KLite Kits/Packs -- I always try to get the offical codec from the official sites.
To answer the question about the clips for the ClipBank - preferrably .mpg or .avi -- again for AVI the codecs need to be installed

What about your Mac version?
The reason I need Quicktime is because the video files are coming off a Mac.
I am just curious, will you or do you have Quicktime support in that version?

The first part of that is true, but you can install a QuickTime video decoder. I absolutely hate QuickTime on Windows and don't install the official client. I use QuickTime Alternative (Lite) instead which has a directshow filter allowing playback of QuickTime files in whatever application you desire. For me this is Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player 11 and Avisynth usage.
VirtualDJ is able to decode the audio from mov files but will not play the video, simply stating error when you choose windows media video decoder. I wonder why this is, I have the correct splitters and codec installed.

Thanks Andrew87
I have tried both of those codecs and have found the same results.
Maybe this will come out of Virtual's Mac development.
I agree, no reason for Quicktime on a PC but as I said for this gig the video files we need are off a Mac.
Sigh

Ok, let me clarify -
VDJ does not have a QuickTime video decoder and you can't just install one that VirtualDJ can use.
