I finally just ordered the software. I had to get the Virtual Vinyl package as I'm going to do all video sets with a MAC and the only soundcard that works with timecode (currently) is the VV box. Ive been participating in the forums and awaiting the MAC release for about 8 months and can't wait to get started mixing videos!
I own Serato but rarely use. Others in my company use my SL1 box so I still use mostly CD's and Records at my residencies. I am familiar with Time Code but never have spun a live show (all night) with it. I mostly use my Pioneer CDJ 1000's because of the Cue'ing and Hot Key system and the accuracy of the decks. But I own the CDJ 1000's and a pair of Technic 1200's.
My question is :: What are you using as far as Time Code control? CDs or Turntables?
Turntables are more appealing to the eye (when people can see you) and have that feel to them, but I own both. Of course I'll make my own choice based on my needs but Im curious on what you guys/gals use.
Thanks for the input, Charlie Five

Just in case you didnt know you can use the SL1 as a soundcard with vdj. It basically just saves you money when it comes down to purchasing the vv package. You can download the software straight off the website and also download the timecoded signal track to burn your own cd.
If you don't like TCCD you can order the TCV but may have to wait a bit depending on availability.
I think preference wise most people (myself included) prefer the vinyl option for time coded solution.

I don't think the Serato SL-1 box works with the MAC version.. that is what he has. But I may be wrong.
I personally use Timecode Vinyls as first choice.
The club I am mainly a resident at has both the Pioneer CDJ 1000's and Technic Turntables.
Each of the four rooms at this club I set up with a computer with Virtual DJ and Serato. So each DJ has a choice of whether to use Serato, Virtual DJ and whatever way they want.. timecode vinyls or CD's...
Most of the DJ's have laptops they bring in with Serato... seems to be the norm right now.. but that will change ;-)
I have a cube style PC I bring in and hook it up as a back up to the clubs computer. So while I am working I have both Vinyl and CD in operation. ... oh and all of with Video too!!
btw,... I have hooked so many unaware Vegas DJ's now with Virtual DJ and video mixing!!
DJ Vice recently came in and spun a little on virtual DJ and was instantly hooked!!

Yeah, the SL1 box is not supported yet with the MAC version. Thats why I had to buy the Virtual Vinyl package :( My buddy wants to buy my tech 12's and I'd like to use the cash to buy a new mixer, a MIDI mixer.
Anyone else. CD's...Turntables?

I use a controller (Hercules MK2 for now) and if I choose I will go for TCV's for sure!

I use CD's. I've only just started off using them, so still trying to get the settings right, so far i'm quite impressed with them.

I use TCV because that's what I grew up using (real records), I stopped playing for like a decade and when I came back the music it just seemed like the natural solution for me. Couldn't get use to the feel of the other options.

Learned on cd decks.
Using a controller that looks like a cd deck.
If I was going to use a timecode controller I'd probably go with the CDX. Close to both worlds.
