Topic: WMV file, can see video but no audio in Windows media Player

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

WMV file plays well in windows media player in one computer. On my laptop, however, the same WMV file plays video okay but no sound comes out?
Why is that?

try setting your video codec to windows media player.

It's in the Codec tab in config menu

What I was asking was that the files were not playing correctly in windows media, not VDJ?

maybe i wasn't supposed to ask that, huh?

Am I missing a codec for WMP, that ius my question?

re-install windows media player.

okay thx, my other question is then: What exactly does the "windows media codec" offer that the internal "video codec" doesn't. Is it only for WMV files or does it also contain other codecs installed into it (Windows media player)? How does this actually function?

I have this problem some will help you please.
