Topic: Playstation 3 and VDJ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi
Last night I saw PS3 in action and I must say I am impressed! A lot of power in a small box. Now, I saw here that PS3 will support keyboard and mouse:

I allready saw Logitech keyboard for PS3 but mouse is not available yet. Does anyone now can I connect ordinary USB mouse for PC on PS3?
Next question is for Dev team. How hard it will be to port/make VDJ to work on PS3 because it has a lot of power for audio/video use? This is just an idea.

A brand new PC is more powerful than the PS3, trust me!

Lol you are joking right? AFAIK, the PS3's cell is still way ahead of new pc's

Even if not, it would work a wonder being dedicated to VDJ

YOU are wrong dude ;)
Try an Intel Quad-Core with double Dual-Core DX10 GPU (two GeForce 8800), 4GB of high speed RAM, a state-of-the-art mobo, a physics card (better than the current PhysX, this one sucks) and see which is the most powerful ;)

I don't remember where, but I saw some benchmarks between a PC and PS3... PC won!!! I've been in the game underground scene for eight years... I know what I say.

Anyway, eight parallel FPUs are very powerful... but they must do graphics, physics, AI and all the other code routines... keep that in mind!

Computers are ALWAYS ahead... ;)

that all sounds impressive, but is it available at the same price? I'm looking at getting a laptop to run CUE software, when I finally get it with the Numark Total Control. I think I am right in saying even the most basic gaming computers will cost over £1,000, the PS3 then looks a cheaper option. PS3 would be the most unpracticle for mobility however. Best stick with the laptops

i doubt the softwares even in the same style of langauge??!?!

Nope, PS3 uses some variant of linux. And it has 7 cores, not 8, one is disabled in the production because of many yeald waste. I think that PC can be faster with 10 times higher price, LOL!
This is just an idea...
