No problem. Nothing but dirt off my shoulder considering what I've got lined up.

I was only giving V2O the first chance because Mark was cool, but it was still only the first demo and it's only been 4 days since then. I don't even want to be demoing with the controller instead of on turntables, but that's not my fault and I don't want to wait any longer.

Regardless, being in this area's club promotion scene for the past 15 years, I can set up a demo anywhere and at the drop of a dime, and since I've never ran into such a level of irrational, desperate paranoia from anyone in my 20 years of spinning, I don't see this being an issue with other residents and/or promoters since most of them know who I am and what I'm about, which is doing the best job and having fun doing it together. That can't happen when one of the crew is a needlessly trigger happy lone gunmen who shoots himself in the foot.

You were right to fight to hold on to V2O, even if it was unnecessary, childish, and completely unfounded. Word travels fast in the club dj circuit, reputations get destroyed even quicker. Hold on to V2O.

I'll have Wednesday - Friday (Saturdays I usually keep open for mobiles because I'm sub-contracted) locked down at A-list venues in no time. I had already told Mark and Jeff that my friends from Cohiba's http://www.cohibalongbeach.com/ (same vicinity as V20) wanted me to go there with this first, but that I told them that I wanted to talk to Mark first for personal reasons. It just so happened that I rolled with A-Swift to V2O the Friday before last and since I didn't drive that night I couldn't drop off the DVD demo, the same one that I had given to Mark and Jeff, at Cohiba's as well, as I had already planned to do that evening.

We did that club weekly 12 years ago and had Monica and Dru Hill perform for us right before "Tell Me" went to #1 on the charts. Yeah, we've still got the connections there from back then and with their current staff and promoters now. We've still got our massive amount of connections that we've built over the past decade and a half of club promotion and over a decade of radio promotion all throughout Southern and Northern California.

To set up a demo date was why I was going to meet up with Ice (as Mark knew) last night at Hush http://www.hushonpine.com/ (same vicinity as both V2O and Cohiba), but I didn't go because I met up with some old school friends and decided to stay at V2O. Plus Ice said that Hush was packed, and I didn't feel like going through the whole parking in downtown Long Beach thing and dealing with any line issues even though I'd be able to just walk right in. No big deal. I'll demo for them this week.

Everybody will want this and most are far behind me on it, definitely far behind us in the club promotion and radio circuit game, and don't even ask about my connections. Combined with that "company I keep" as you put it, which goes far beyond Ice, I'll have NO problem locking down venues just as nice and nicer than V2O in the same area and beyond.

You can try to make nice with Ice, but having just talked to him and brought him up to speed about you, the way you've acted, and what you've done and how it impacted our VisuALL movement, we and some more of the "company I keep" that he doesn't even know knows about this yet and have come into the fold since, have our reservations about you. Believe me, you don't want to know who's saying what, and I didn't even ask to know.

I've forwarded the PDF's of both these threads from both forums to Mark for his own review to do whatever he wants with them.

I've got demos lined up through this entire month from Los Angeles to San Diego and in the IE. Although I like V20, we've got many options, quite a few of them better, especially in regards to residents that we work with.

Regardless, I just want this all to stop so that I can stop getting PM's at both SSL and VDJ forums like this (although they're appreciated, I just don't have time):

Hi VT ConQuest,

I have to say, this is one of the most impressive responses I ever saw. Your responses are on point, constructive, and very thought of. I especially like there is some background information to make users aware of the whole situation. Above all, the messages you post shows this thread SHOULD not induce drama or trashing each other.

In a way, it does make Joerockets "look bad" to post in the first place, but you still make it a point he's not a "bad" guy for doing this.

As DJs, we should help each other out and promote friendly competition (as you would say). Nobody is the best of anything (even DJs have different categories: scratch, video, turntables, weddings, radio personality, etc.). Heck, I still have long ways to go in DJing. We DJs need to excel where we are at and never stop improving or innovating.

As a side note, I do notice some clubs are doing more visual DJing and art. It might become a trend with a business sense. I even saw the new Tatou (sp?) in downtown LA putting videos on. I am interested in your work at V2O or other venues. Since I am not far away from Long Beach, I will be honored to see your work and style.

Normally I don't post a response of this nature, but after seeing this, I was very impressed and felt compelled to send you a note. Just keep up your DJ work and constructive responses. Oh yeah welcome to the Serato board!

Yeah, I'm thinking that going and demoing this at clubs and letting them know that their competition is gonna have this later, but that I can provide it now, is just going to make it easier for me to lock down my venues a lot sooner with people I want to work with.

Thanks Mike!

Lol! =P

This was just an inevitable reaction to my initial action.

Who was he talking to at the SSL forums? He said that I frequent the SSL forums when I have never been an SSL user, I had to create an account just to respond on his thread over there, and he had no reason to think that I was an SSL user because we never even talked about it.

The most that he and I ever talked was when I cut him a deal on his 12" PowerBook last year because I'm always cool to everyone until they prove to me that they are not cool.

That said, I wouldn't cut him any deal now... not that there's much of a deal that can be given on Macs anyways, right a-swift? ;)

But it's the fact that again, whatever I can do for the greater good, I do. No matter how limited it may be, especially if it's no fault of my own.

This is a CLEAR case of someone trying to quietly garner support based on a misconception and having it backfire when the misconception gets exposed and the truth comes out from the other side that wasn't expected to be brave enough to step forward.

The lesson? Don't EVER underestimate me. ;)

Yeah, congrats on purchasing VDJ!

I LOVE competition (especially when they're wack on the tables)

J/K!!! ... but FYI, pre-set/pre-mixers (I got that PM'd to me from an SSL user) get clowned by REAL turntablists everytime.

As a matter of fact, let me call you out OFFICIALLY now:

LET'S BATTLE! VT ConQuest vs. joerocket!!!

Seriously. Just a friendly, traditional turntablists way of squashing beef. =)

Neutral location, in public (club, event, garage, whatever), audio only (for now, so SSL and/or analog vinyl), and how about anytime this month?

We can both pick judges. We both know who Junkies are, but I've been close with them since they formed in the early 90's so I can get them to judge and they'll be completely unbiased because they only focus on what's important, which is skills.

Seriously, I'm not very good. Just ask anewsome/a-swift because I swear I showed my best at his house last weekend.

I've heard you scratch a little at V2O so I know what I'm up against, and I'm sure I'm gonna lose. =(

But that's not the point!

What do you say joerocket/Mike? =)

This is NO joke, so let me know asap so I/we can start planning it out. =)

Lol!

The first pitch thrown hardly determines the games outcome and there's a lot more ballparks than V2O to play in.

I just threw the second pitch in the series.

Let's see if he's turntablist enough to swing.

I'm down for whatever!

Sure, we can compete right now.

I'm not a turntablist and never claimed to be. You win.

Yeah, we wouldn't play well together anyway.

I only play ball with people that at least try to take a swing.

BTW, I've stated many times that I do NOT consider turntablists to only be "Q-Bert's".

By defintion joerocket/Mike, you ARE a turntablist.

You use turntables and vinyl, and that's to be respected IMO, and at the very least, that IS a turntablist.

You DO mix and scratch a little as well, which means you respect the turntable as a musical instrument to express yourself and have put at least some effort into doing so because I've heard you.

Again, respect for that.

My offer stands for a battle.

ANYTIME. ANYWHERE.

But as a representative user of VirtualDJ, and hard feelings aside, I welcome you as a VDJ user now too.

I really don't see what "battling" will do for either of us.

Really.

This is how we do. =)

Well, how us real one's do at least.

The fakes and biters don't know that there is anything to be done in order to uphold turntablist/dj tradition and honor.

But look who finally crawled out of the woodwork... it's Norway!!!

First off, welcome to Joerockets!

CQ...settling things by doing battle I liken to being the school yard bully.
You call Mike out like you're picking a fight in a public place where everybody will see it.

And rather than ignore it like others have, he concedes that it would be pointless stating he would probably lose anyway. He's never seen your act, but he's willing to put aside his own pride and blow off the challenge, that impresses me.
There's no reason to turn it into a street fight with a winner and loser or to see who's the bigger man.

Strangest thread I've ever seen.......

mind what you say about mr norway lol
